4670k OC Can't Get Past 4.0Ghz

Hi,

So, I need a little help.

I can overclock my 4670K to 4.0Ghz just messing with the following (Maximus VI Gene):

Vcore: 1.170
Vcache: 1.150
Eventual Voltage: 1.670
Cache Multi: 1:1 (40)

I have it 100% stable,

To make the jump to just 4.2 however, I need the following:

Vcore: 1.260
Vcache: 1.260
Eventual Voltage: 1.760

That's a massive increase for only 200Mhz. If I lower it to 1.250, I get a BSOD. Can't get to 4.4 even on 1.320 vcore.

I have everything else on default. On the 4.0Ghz overclock I bump my memory clock to 2000Mhz with 9-9-9-24-1T, totally stable.

My temps are fine, I have a Corsair H100i. On Prime95 small fft it gets up to just ~70ºC-

What should I do?

Hello Seketh

You could start over, in the bios hit F5 to set defaults. Let everything on auto and start with just the cpu frequency and the cpu voltage, once you get to where you wanna be or what temps will allow then start working with the cache.

I would not recommend using prime for haswell, the temperatures are usually with 25-30 higher and the power consumption is out of the box. Also my cpu crashed in fft in 1 min, and in aida/rog realbench, games and daily use i didn't ecounter any stability problems.

Hi guys. So I was without my H100i for a while, I'm back in action now.

So, getting above 4.2 is proving to be impossible, trying 4.6 at 1.370 vcore seems stable, but it still crashes on Prime95 running Small FFT.

4.4Ghz seems stable at 1.350, but it still crashes on Prime95 Small FFT. if I try to match manual voltage using Adaptive Voltage, it gets unstable and I get random BSOD's.

So basically, anything above 4.2 gets a BSOD on Prime95 Small FFT and having a manual vcore of 1.280 for 4.2 seems too high.

So, I need help. What should I try?
