4 SSDs RAID 0 with Maximus V Gene

Hello guys, 😛

Once again I need your help, this time is RAID 0 problem. I currently have 2 SSDs (corsair Force GT 60GB sata3) working in RAID 0 mode, everything is ok. Now I want to upgrade to 4 SSDs. My Maximus V gene has 4 sata3 ports. But as far as I know, the first 2 ports are controlled by Z77, and the other 2 are controlled by a 3rd party chip. 😞 so I'm confused if I could do a RAID 0 with those 4 ports

I asked some PC parts shops in my country, but they don't have any expert about this, so they told me to ask ASUS ROG. I have to make sure before buying 2 more SSDs to do the RAID 0 because they would not accept refund in this case. 😞

Please help 😮 thank you.....

No - you need to be on the same controller to do RAID.

You could have all 4 on an Intel controller but then you would loose the SATA 6G as there are only two of those, lowest common denominator and all that.

😞 oh, sound like I need to upgrade my MB to Maximus V Formula to get 4 SATA 6GB. However, those 4 ports on Formula are controlled by ASMedia chip. So I wonder if ASMedia is good to do the RAID 0 compare to intel Z77 ?

Has anyone here done RAID 0 on ASMedia? Please give me an advice, thanks 🙂 Sorry for my bad Eng

You can not do 4 RAID 0 at 6GB on any of the motherboards. You will need an discrete controller.
