3770k issues with nvidia drivers

Hi Guys

I have this odd problem . I recently changed my cpu in my rig from a 2600K to a 3770K . But my new cpu does seem to like any nvidia driver when I am using my GTX 550 Ti . Strangly enough works fine with an old 8800GT. My board is a Maximus IV Extreme-Z.

This is what I have tried so far .

1. Flashed latest bios.
2. Reformated my OS. ( 3 times )
3. Tried older Nvidia drivers.

Dont really want to swop my video card. Works well for what I need it for.


When I put my 2600K back in works fine..

Any Ideas?

Suspect it has to do with the PCIe controller on the CPU, default is Gen3 try setting the PCIe to Gen2 in the BIOS.

I cant find it in the Bios . Can u point me in the right direction ?

Which BIOS are you using, and did you flash to the 3xxx BIOS in OS or via the EZflash2?

Ignore the gen3 setting for now, as I am not sure your management engine was updated when you flashed to the 3 series bios.

I flashed 3402 this evening , no change.

Update . I tried a 3570K i5 in my board with my GTX 550 Ti and it works fine. Bear in mind my supplier tested my 3770K and found no isssues but it wasnt the same board. They are gonna RMA my CPU and if its still the same with the new chip , have a look at my board. I got to say the i5 over clocked nicely. Run it at 4.6 Ghz whole week end and had no issues. My water loop handles the heat nicely.
