Z97-WS USB probs

Got the Z97-WS in and booted to the SSD from the Z97 Sabertooth with no prblems. Device manager shows everything's O.K. I then restarted to go into bios and it loads but the mouse and keyboard don't function in bios but both work well in Windows. Tried a variety of mice and usb ports but to no avail. What am I missing?

Do you have a PS2 keyboard mate? if not, get down to your nearest pc shop and grab a USB/PS2 adaptor and use that, then get into the BIOS and see if you have legacy turned on for both USB2 and 3. Might help, not entirely sure though...plus they're only a couple bucks and come in handy 😄

Try changing the ports the KB and mouse are connected to (Clear CMOS as well). If that does not help, list the make/model of the keyboard and mouse. Include any part numbers and revision numbers.

Update: Today I tried twice with the same results. Then I tried Myk's suggestion of old keyboard with USB/PS2 adapter and got a 'keyboard not detected' message in the boot sequence. Twas about to pull the battery as a last ditch effort but..... tried one more time with Razer BlackWidow Ultimate and SteelSeries Sensei RAW plugged in under the Lan1 port and this time everything worked in bios. The only thing I tried different from yesterday was the old keyboard with USB/PS2 adapter so who knows what happened but all is well now. Raja@ASUS, if you still need a list of the mouses and keyboards I'll try to get a list but for the USB ports, I tried them all, individually and in combinations.
