Yeah. The maximus V posts. But no internet connection detected after win 7 install.

I got the Max v yesterday and late last night I got everything together and finally got to see the new build post after waiting over a week.
A couple quick questions
I didn't have internet access. Does the LAN driver need to be installed first??
I've always had internet before after installing win7.
And of course I get the message that my win product key has expired so I need to activate win.

It's always best to install the proper drivers, rather than let Windows use generic crap drivers. So yep, you'll need to download the NIC drivers 🙂

Although W7 includes a lot of different LAN drivers to ensure that you have internet access as soon as you installed Windows, they don't have every single driver. In your case, you'll need to download and install the LAN driver manually from the Asus website.

Well okay then but just how am I too do that with no internet access.
Sorry I couldn't resist.
But really, does the driver DVD have the drivers I need to get the LAN port working so I can activate win and then get all the updated drivers downloaded...I didn't get much further than installing windows and taking a quick look at the unfamiliar bios. I've upgraded from a p55 lynnfield so its all new to me.
And I noticed that the qvl doesn't list gskill trident X 2400 in the 8gig kit. Will a 8 gig 2x4 work.??

Yes, though outdated you can still use the drivers on the DVD to get you started 🙂

yeah, just point the device manager ethernet item to scan for drivers on the included DVD for only the LAN driver (not worth it to nstall the rest or all from it), it will be old but it works and will get you going for updated revisions from ASUS Support Downloads 😉
