Hi all.
I have a 3930k which I have successfully clocked a lot using the internal multiplier.

However I really wish to see a maximum settings using CPU STRAP and BCLK also. I have not yet a successfull boot fooling around with them ?

Anybody got a high "external" clock sdetting they wish to share?

Lets see what people can reach using STRAP/BLCK ... please post people..

Currently at 4.5GHZ 125x36 1.288V

Thats exactly what I wanted to see! I rather go that way that 45x100 ... Im gonna use your settings as a start off..

But you set CPU STRAP to 125? how about BCLK ?

I tried CPU strap 125 and could not get stable, even at 100 and 4.5. So I aborted that route.
i7-3930K; Asus RIVE; G.SKILL Ripjaws Z 4x4GB DDR3 1866; MSI 7870 2GD5/OC; Crucial M4 SSD 256GB;
Corsair 1000HX; Corsair H100, 4x Excalibur 120mm PWM CPU Fan p-p, AS5; SB X-Fi Titanium Fata1ity Pro;
Dell U2412m IPS 1920x1200; Cooler Master HAF 932 case; Tripp-Lite OMNIVS1500 UPS fully Line-interactive.
(EVGA site: ) And I have a second (wife's) computer, Eve.

Overclocking is useless to me if it is not rock stable.

Yeah but its a good route.... will try some experimenting when i get a new board

I have mine stable 125 Strap, 125 x 41= 5.125 with 32gb Gskill at 2333mhz Cas 10.

leave strap at auto and use bclk changes instead, the board will be smart enough to figure the right strap to use accfording to bclk selected . 100bclk with 125 strap will not work, 125 bclk with 125 strap will work, some other vendors display bclk and strap different showing 100bclk with 125 strap which is what we display as 125bclk with 125strap.

Hi,

i play BF3, and i notice that BF3 is crashing (only the application not the system) when i'im on 125 bclk and strap auto (means 125).

When i use 100 bclk and Strap auto (so 100) BF3 is totaly stable and never crash.

So i suppose the BF3 unstability is closely linked with BCLK frequency which seems to be too high for PCI-Express port and CGPU on it.

So i wanted to set Strap manually to 125 and bclk on 100 but as shamino said... it doesn't work 😞 !

so 2 questions :

- Why we cannot asynchronize CPU strap higher than BLCK ?
- How could i do to OC without using CPU ratio ?

125 strap will not work with manual set 100 obviously. Use 125 BCLK, what CPU multiplier ratio are you using? Make sure voltages are correct for the CPU frequency.

exactly as Raja says on higher BLK you need to drop the ratio for the same frequency. Otherwise voltages will need adjusting. Also check the RAM speed is correct when you change to 125 strap
