WOL with Rampage IV Extreme

Hi,

I can't get Wake on LAN working with my Rampage IV Extreme.
The only post I found was from 2012 which did not solve it.
Don't have a link to this old post as I found it while browsing on my phone.

- I'm currently running BIOS 4310 and Windows 8.
- Power on PCIE is Enabled in BIOS.
- Energy settings under Windows are enabled (even tried to disable 'only power on magic packet')

If you need further specs just answer!
Anyone got suggestions what I could do?

I've ran into this kind of problem before. Here's what helped me:

Keep Power on PCIE enabled in BIOS, just like you have it now. Make sure Erp Ready is Disabled in BIOS->Advanced->APM. Then do

1. In windows go to your LAN adapter Power Manager settings and un-check all the options. Click ok.
2. Power off the system and unplug it. Wait a minute for all the capacitors charge to dissipate.
3. Power back on, go to LAN Power Manager options and check these:
- Wake on Magic Packet
- Wake on Magic Packet from power off state.
- Wake on Pattern Match.

Now shutdown and test. I hope it helps you.

Sorry, was busy.
I've just tried it and it's still not working. 😕

I've used wireshark to test if the computer gets the magic packet while running.
Everything seems fine - every packet arrives, there is no loss.

So it must be the nic thats not responding while the pc is shut down...
Any ideas?

Soooo... I just figured it out!
Apparently the power management got changed with windows 8 - WOL is only available in hibernation or sleep mode.
