Windows 8.1 " Update 1" Nvidia Driver Crash?

Ok, for some reason I can't use "Update 1 KB2919355" with any Nvidia driver.

First attempt: Installed the update trough windows update. After reboot I got BSOD: "page_fault_in_nonpaged_area", and referencing nvlddmkm.sys


Second attempt: Ok, so maybe something went wrong. Did a reformat/clean install. Installed all updates through windows update and nothing else.
Then tried installing nvidia driver, instant BSOD when driver installation starts (When the screen go off and on). Same BSOD message.


Third attempt: Reformat/clean install. Installed all updates except "Update 1 KB2919355" and nvidia driver installs just fine.
Applying "Update 1 KB2919355" right after gives the same BSOD after reboot.

Got a suggestion from nvidia forums to disable secure boot, but unfortunately without success.

I have tried every driver from 331.82 to 337.50 with the same result.

My event viewer gives me: 0x00000050 (0xffffe0007c96d800, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff8007364d0a3, 0x0000000000000000) Event ID: 1001

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Edit: Sound Card Driver, Lan Driver, Intel Chipset, MEI drivers, Intel Rapid Storage driver. All installed fine, without problems. With or without "Update 1"

I'm on my Windows 7 x64 laptop right now, what exactly is that update?

Kind of like a Service Pack for windows 8.1, also includes newer features/fixes.

Hello

0x50 is almost always memory (system or video) or driver related. Lower your memory speed to 1333MHz and test with a different video card if possible. If doing this does not allow installation of the update contact nVidia for a possible solution.

Yes, thats what I also thought.

Already tried clearing CMOS, running with stock BIOS settings and memory @ 1333Mhz
Took out both my VGA cards, and test them one by one.

Also tried memtest a couple of hour, with no errors.

Funny thing is that if I do not install the "Update 1 KB2919355" ,my system is fine. I can run any game/bench for hours with no problem.
So I find it hard to believe it some kind of hardware failure.

Over at MS community there is several threads with the same kind of problem, but it mostly seems to affect Laptop users.

Oh well, maybe it is something MS f up.

Hey t0bber, thought I would pop in to this thread too since Nvidia probably isn't going to be much help for us.

I have a sneaking suspicion more and more that this is either an Nvidia, Realtek or Microsoft issue.

For anyone not following our thread over at the Nvidia forums, I was running in to the same issue until I finally just downloaded the Windows 8.1 Pro with Update 1 ISO and forced a clean install of it. Then I had to install the nvidia drivers through the device manager to get the majority of the functionality back. However when I went to install the newest Realtek drivers available on this site, the system blue screened, restarted, restarted again and actually booted. Before it was when I attempted to install the nvidia drivers of any type that Update 1 would blue screen. I've been using Windows 8.1 for months no with no issue, which is why I think it's a Microsoft issue. However I cannot find an appropriate forum in which to discuss it with them.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have multiple minidumps and other resources.

Looks like you'll have to live w/o the update for now, maybe a hotfix is in the works.

Unfortunately that is almost not an option. Microsoft will not be providing any more security updates for Windows 8.1 systems not on the update in approx 1 month. Right now I have the update stable with minimal driver, but I'm always afraid to restart it now like I am about to.

I have the same issues....formatted clean with a .ISO install of Windows 8.1 update 1, As soon as a the Nvidia driver is loaded (latest beta 337.50) Bluescreen....not recoverable. On the second clean install after the initial windows load, once rebooted I get another bluescreen crash loop...Frustrating....Tonight I will go back to just 8.1 without the update and see what happens...

Hello

Microsoft is aware of and are working on a fix for several install issues regarding the 2014 Update. There are workarounds for a couple of the issues. Google may help with this.
