Will the Maximus VI Hero handle 2x780, 1xPCIe sound card, 1xPCIe video capture card?

I will be running two GTX 780s, one PCIe sound card and one PCIe video capture card.

I believe that the GTX 780s in SLI will both run at x8 but I'm confused as to whether or not using any of the four black PCI Express slots will cause the 780s to run slower than x8 so I figured I'd come here to ask.

My plans are to use the black PCI Express slots at the very top (sound card) and very bottom (video capture card).

If the Maximus VI Hero cannot handle all four of those cards can the Maximus VI Extreme?

Any information or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Mate I do not know, but I have the motherboard and what I can do is try and test a similar SLi configuration tomorrow for you. Now I need to sleep.

All the black PCIe slots are spec'd at PCIe 2.0 so should be connected to the PCH and would not have an effect on the speed of the two red x16 PCIe slots. However, if the black PCIe x16 slot (bottom) is set to x4 speed instead of x1all the black PCIE x1 slots will be disabled.

What will happen if the bottom 16x (4x wired) is set to 1x and used for dedicated Intel lan card its also 1x, will all the small black 1x pcie 2.0 be available to use simultaneously, like the second to last with sound card? and at what speed will the first 16x PCie will run with the following setup, 16x or 8x?

you will only have an issue with clearance. if you can install them, you won't have any bandwidth issue. remember the put the bottom most PCI-E slot to x1 speeds from bios if you are using it. (most probably you will).

basically, bottom most PCI-E x16 slot (set it to x1 speed from bios) for audio and top most PCI-E x1for capture card, or wise versa. i wouldn't use the other slots because it would cripple the airflow to the video cards. however, if you are going for massive air cooler, you will not be able to use the top most PCI-E x1 slot.

yes, once you set x1 for the bottom most x16 slot, you can use them all without issue.

why you putting a NIC in the bottom slot? doesnt this board already have intel gigabit NIC?

This setup will work fine. If the black slot is set to x1 then all x1 slots work properly. Like Prax said, only if you set it to x4 it disbles the x1 slots.

Sorry for my delay, I took some time off (last week of school holidays)

The configuration works as listed - black slot set to x1
