Why updated OROM's included in BIOS updates may be important

SSD TRIM Command on RAID 0 Possible - With A Few Riders
Intel made it possible for SSDs to utilize the TRIM command feature when striped in RAID 0, provided a few meaty requirements are met. The TRIM command feature works to minimize write performance degradation on SSDs, but thus far it has been impossible to enable the feature on any other host controller mode than standalone AHCI, due to the manner in which the feature works at a physical level.
According to a report, TRIM over RAID 0 will be made possible with Windows 8 operating system, provided the system is running an Intel 7-series chipset (such as Z77 Express), has RAID BIOS (Option ROM) version 11.5 or higher, and Rapid Storage Technology (RST) device driver version 11.5 or higher. While obtaining the required Windows and driver versions is relatively easy, the RAID Option ROM version is in the hands of motherboard manufacturers, who have to release motherboard BIOS updates that include the required RAID Option ROM updates.

I know it's rehashing complaints/beefs throughout the forum, but, I just don't understand why it is the motherboard manufacturers just will not officially keep the various OROMS up to date with the latest official OROMs released by the OEMs.
That said, it is especially disappointing that ASUS will not even keep there own Asmedia ROMs current with the latest update. I mean this is there child-the buck stops with them on this. The Asmedia SATA 3 chip is garbage, but, a deligent effort to improve it through ROM/software R&D/release may lessen the adverse impact.
If the OEM is providing an official BIOS update anyways why not include all the latest OROMs-everything else being equal. The one in the modded 2105b makes a nice difference on my-and many other-systems.
I personally could not care less about Windows 8; will not allow it to run on my system ever in its current release-absolutely hate it-ME/Vista all over again-which I did not buy either. I understand the need though for manufacturers to support it sooner rather than later. However, is not the same true for all the current unrepaired bugs/issues on what they have already sold. It just amazes me how fast all their PR/marketing/R&D engines go into high gear to spotlight a new component release, devote huge resources to complementing distribution/sales/adoption, while allocating the released hardware needs to the backburner-almost like "when we get a chance" kind of attitude.
I may be wrong on a lot of this, I don't know. I'm sure, though, my perception here mirrors the majority.

As I said Intel SATA/RAID ROM 3.2.0.1022 is perform better than old school every benchmark.
Not only it better in performance side, It allow Windows 8 RTM Build 9200 to run Optimize your SSD Drive or RAID volumn with TRIM command support efficiency. But if you still use old school since RIVE debut. Windows 8 cannot TRIM your SSD Drive or RAID volumn any more.😛

I have proved it already. If anyone want to test it by yourself . Flash your BIOS to 2105 from Shamino. Installing Windows 8 RTM Build 9200.
Goto Computer and Windows 8 drive. Right click to volumn and try to optimize your drive. You'll get it windows can't do anything with it.

Then flash back 2105b from UnixSystem New Super Hero BIOS with Intel SATA/RAID ROM 3.2.0.1022 update. Try upper method again.
You'll see how fast of optimize your drive command within new SATA/RAID ROM update. Not only it allow TRIM command for SSD or RAID It really fastest boot and shutdown ever seen before .

Try it yourself. You'll see the performance gain a lot with new Intel SATA/RAID ROM 3.2.0.1022 over old 3.0.0.1085 suck.

The question I want to know a lot from Shamino is " WHY DID NOT IMPLEMENT THIS UPDATED SATA/RAID ROM IN OFFICIAL BIOS, MAN! ?"
or you need to show off "FLASH BACK METHOD ONLY?"

and to R4E3960X:

Let's not start this flaming/blaming/singling out kind of thing. Shimano, HiVizMan, Unix' BOLTS' etc. help us all quite a bit with our problems and ASUS policy, which the mods may or may not be permitted to express an opinion on, is not their doing. Keep it civil; if you can help the way they do please don't hold yourself back. I personally do not have the knowledge. 🙂
This post is meant to be a platform for some venting/discussion; not meant to bring any forum moderator, ASUS employee to task.
Who knows, perhaps the powers that be in ASUS where the "buck" stops actually will read this post and finally practice the ROG theme/come to the party.
I don't know, just really, really disappointed in this x79 and the omissions which come out in "lesser" chipsets not even 6 months later.

Sooner or later these posts will get the attention of someone at ASUS.
Hopefully sooner 🙂

I'm sure there's not too much said here they're not already aware of; maybe there is something we don't know their engineers do that precludes the new OROM offerings. My point is that if these OROMs are already being offered on competitors 7 series motherboards, then, why not all of the ROG too. All tier one manufactuires are pushing the new and not including what is common in the old. Ivybridge is not supposed to be as good as x79, but, you would be hardpressed to come up with any supporting arguments to that effect if you wade through all the hype surrounding its release, or, some of the hardwired features (USB 3, GEN 3) not included in x79.
x79 is for all intensive purposes a dead horse. It is nothing more, in my opinion, but a flash in the pan designed to keep the power user happy with someting new until the real chip is ready for distribution-x80e maybe....
I never would have invested in x79 at all if I knew then what I know now-my fault.

Sorry if I mistaken anything here :p. I just only amazing with your qoute about X79 or C600 family.

The Intel Desktop board with use X79 chipset also have Intel SATA/RAID ROM 3.2.0.1022 update with lastest BIOS version.
And it perform very well with Windows 8 RTM. If you think X79 and/or C600 family not support TRIM command for SSD/RAID volumn.
Why does intel desktop board update it via lastet BIOS?

If hardware not support natively. Why Intel X79 desktop board and my RIVE with MOD BIOS perform very well man?
This is not flaming or blaming or singling anymore man. It only strange and noticable point that Why intel desktop board same chipset can but ASUS can't?

Don't think about X80E the next revision of Intel chipset are C610 family with come with Haswell E platform with feature here.

I am having trouble believing anything coming from the manufacturers, between the ASUS GEN3 SATA, Intel vt-d, NVidia SATA 3 GPUs and much, much more. I am not trusting any of them anymore.

Looks like they are all trying to push out the next generation and leaving the X79/Enthusiast behind. I guess I am spoiled after owning the X58 line. I will just have to back down and make better decisions in the future.

Very disappointing!
