Why updated OROM's included in BIOS updates may be important

SSD TRIM Command on RAID 0 Possible - With A Few Riders
Intel made it possible for SSDs to utilize the TRIM command feature when striped in RAID 0, provided a few meaty requirements are met. The TRIM command feature works to minimize write performance degradation on SSDs, but thus far it has been impossible to enable the feature on any other host controller mode than standalone AHCI, due to the manner in which the feature works at a physical level.
According to a report, TRIM over RAID 0 will be made possible with Windows 8 operating system, provided the system is running an Intel 7-series chipset (such as Z77 Express), has RAID BIOS (Option ROM) version 11.5 or higher, and Rapid Storage Technology (RST) device driver version 11.5 or higher. While obtaining the required Windows and driver versions is relatively easy, the RAID Option ROM version is in the hands of motherboard manufacturers, who have to release motherboard BIOS updates that include the required RAID Option ROM updates.

I know it's rehashing complaints/beefs throughout the forum, but, I just don't understand why it is the motherboard manufacturers just will not officially keep the various OROMS up to date with the latest official OROMs released by the OEMs.
That said, it is especially disappointing that ASUS will not even keep there own Asmedia ROMs current with the latest update. I mean this is there child-the buck stops with them on this. The Asmedia SATA 3 chip is garbage, but, a deligent effort to improve it through ROM/software R&D/release may lessen the adverse impact.
If the OEM is providing an official BIOS update anyways why not include all the latest OROMs-everything else being equal. The one in the modded 2105b makes a nice difference on my-and many other-systems.
I personally could not care less about Windows 8; will not allow it to run on my system ever in its current release-absolutely hate it-ME/Vista all over again-which I did not buy either. I understand the need though for manufacturers to support it sooner rather than later. However, is not the same true for all the current unrepaired bugs/issues on what they have already sold. It just amazes me how fast all their PR/marketing/R&D engines go into high gear to spotlight a new component release, devote huge resources to complementing distribution/sales/adoption, while allocating the released hardware needs to the backburner-almost like "when we get a chance" kind of attitude.
I may be wrong on a lot of this, I don't know. I'm sure, though, my perception here mirrors the majority.

I see friend, But it was intel roms not asus roms. So people know whom was mistaken we're not sue ASUS for that loss. However Intel SATA/ROM 3.0.0.1085 came with original RIVE was not compatible with "Optimize" command on Windows 8 RTM. What's key solution if not update Intel SATA/ROM to 3.2.0.1022 ? Windows can't TRIM your SSD and/or SSD RAID Volumn anymore without Intel SATA/ROM 3.2.0.1022. By the way if it not safe to update why intel update their desktop board with lastest Intel SATA/ROM 3.2.0.1022 all line product even the XEON E5 board which main target for server platform? :oLet's check this https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:T_Rp50gTNBEJ:downloadmirror.intel.com/21688/eng/SI_0537_R...

There isn't anything that could make me understand that-enough said; can you please close/lock this topic. ASUS will not update the OROMs-end of discussion. Thanks for the headsup; now we all know-I personally never would have guessed. I'm ditching this mobo and going with Intel's. I just cannot abide that policy.
Perhaps it might be best to sticky this "OROMs will not be updated by ASUS" and the reason so everyone will know right off the bat.

I can tell you right now I will no longer buy any products from asus if this is true and/or the ROM's do not get updated, this is supposed to be a "Enthusiast" motherboard, aka top of the line product! Not trying to start a problem at all just does not make any sense, all of us spent good money on this product, how do you expect to keep the ROG "Enthusiast" motherboard lineup if you dont back your products especially if a big part of the community is asking for it? You "ASUS" will loose customers! I for one want to keep buying your motherboard's! I LOVE THEM! This community LOVE's THEM! But you need to make your customers happy! And updating the ROM's will make us happy! Not to mention there is a actual benifit to updating the ROM's! Honestly I'm not trying to start any kind of problem, we would just like them updated and know that when the community "aka your customers that buy your products" asks for something ASUS will listen and take care of us!!! It's not ASUS's responsibility for data loss, its the end user, how can anyone sue over that? I for one buy over 100 Asus's products every year, please dont make me look somewhere else!

Show everone why ASUS is #1

Thanks

Still, thanks; it puts my questions on the matter to rest-what I wanted.

Hey Sham,
How dangerous is it to update the orom if it is just included in a bios flash? No?
I think the ROM to CAP is more dangerous with Asus crap instructions.
I call it is a lame excuse by ROG because you guys rather spend the money for validation to marketing.
It is not a good decision, please feedback more.
It will backfire if other manufactures use this against Asus.

Thank you for the answer Shamino.

@ASUS,
WOW, ASUS surprised me.

This is very disappointing, or maybe I should say down right disgusting. This is "suppose" to be an Enthusiast board. I will continue to use the RIVE until no longer needed. ASUS doesn't have to provide a BIOS with the updated OROM, the fact of the matter is, the community "outside this forum" will always be modding and tweaking their own.

I will not be purchasing anymore products from ASUS. This is kind of funny, seeing that you just won me over with the R4E to only lose me in less than a year.

Good luck, I don't wish hard times on ASUS but if you keep this trend up, you will bring hard times upon yourselves.
