Which drivers do we need to install??!!

Moises2018

Hello friends,

I’m brand spanking new to the forums and to the world of ROG! I even have the new smell… LOL! 😄

I need some guidance concerning the drivers that I need to install of ASUS’s website. I just purchased the Maximus V Formula and will be setting it up soon so I want to make sure I stall the correct drivers for this baby!

I looked at the drivers section and was a bit confused about some that were listed, so here are my 6 questions:

1. Under Qualified Vendor List, do I need to install: 1. M5F-DRAM-QVL, 2. Maximus_V_Formula-DRAM-2666-QVL and/or 3. The Maximus_V_Formula-memory-QVL?

2. Under Chipset do I install: The Management Engine Interface along with the Intel Chipset Driver??

3. Under Audio I see the Realtek Audio Driver V5.10.0.6699, do I install this??
This one really has me confused because I understood that this motherboard has the SupremeFX IV chipset!!! But under the utilities section I do see the ASUS ThunderFX Audio Driver… So which one do I install?? Or do both need to be installed?

4. Under USB I see 3 separate drivers, do I install all 3? I see the following: 1. Intel USB 3.0 Driver V 1.0.5.235, the Intel(R) USB 3.0 Controller Driver V1.0.4.225 and 3.the Asmedia USB 3.0 Driver V1.14.3.0.

5. Under SATA, do I install both the Intel Smart Connect Technology Software and the Intel Rapid Start Technology Software?? Or do I only need to install just one?

6. From reading other threads, I saw that several said not to install the AI suite, is that correct don’t install the AI suite?? Is something wrong/bad with the AI Suite?

Your help my friends is much appreciated!!! 😉

Those are PDF files that tell you which RAM is compatible with youtr motherboard. No need to download any of them.

2. Under Chipset do I install: The Management Engine Interface along with the Intel Chipset Driver??
Yes, install them both.

3. Under Audio I see the Realtek Audio Driver V5.10.0.6699, do I install this??

Yes, install them both too.

Yes, install all three of them.

5. Under SATA, do I install both the Intel Smart Connect Technology Software and the Intel Rapid Start Technology Software?? Or do I only need to install just one?}
Intel Smart Connect Technology Software updates applications such as e-mail and social networks when your computer is asleep. Meanwhile Intel Rapid Start Technology Software is like a faster hibernate thing which allows your system to resume from a zero-power hibernate state in a quicker manner. If you'll be using any of those features, then go for it. Personally I didn't install either of them.

6. From reading other threads, I saw that several said not to install the AI suite, is that correct don’t install the AI suite?? Is something wrong/bad with the AI Suite?
Nothing is wrong with AI Suite. It's just that there are some problems that have been arising when using that software. Some people use it, some don't.

Hello HiVizMan,

How are you? I hope you’re doing great! I need some assistance from you, please!

I have the Maximus V Formula which has the Intel Z77 chipset. I just did a clean install of Windows 10 64Bit.
Sadly I did NOT find much drivers on Asus website (the Chipset, Audio and VGA were the only drivers posted); I did install the Chipset, Audio and VGA drivers posted. There are no SATA drivers for the Intel SATA Controller, it's important that I get the SATA drivers correct?

In device manager I have listed under IDE ATA/ATAP Controllers category the following 3 entries: Standard SATA AHCI Controller.

So, here’s what I did so far:
I went to ASMEDIA website and downloaded their latest SATA Drivers and now under the Storage Controllers heading I have the following 3 entries: two Asmedia 106x SATA Controllers and one Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller.

Now under the IDE ATA/ATAP Controllers heading in Device Manager I only have ONE entry instead of the original three: Standard SATA AHCI Controller.

I had opened a support ticked with ASUS tech support and this is the response I received:

“Thank you for contacting ASUS technical support.
Thank you for your patience. I have received reply from the concerned team. We request you to download the Intel SATA drivers directly from the Intel website.
Please click on this link to view the Intel support website:

What do you think HiVizMan? Does that seem like the right SATA driver from my Maximus V Formula (Intel Z77 chipset)?
Without the proper driver, performance and functionality is limited, correct, for my SSD drive? I need this Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, correct?

But I'm confused because someone on the ROG forum told me that the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver is not the SATA driver... that the SATA drivers are actually installed with the Intel Chipset Drivers. Is that correct?

Please provide direction??

A million thanks!

I have another question concerning the VGA driver of Asus’s website. Looks like that VGA driver is for the onboard video chip, so do I need to install this VGA driver and the Nvidia driver for my GTX 670 in order to get the LucidLogix Virtu MVP stuff working with my GTX 670’s?
