What Bios for AMD 7970

HK-47
Level 10
I was reading through the release notes here for AMD 12.6 drivers. And I read this :

AMD Catalyst 12.6 includes some additional fixes(not found in the AMD Catalyst 12.6 Beta) for the AMD Radeon™ HD 7900, AMD Radeon HD 7800, and AMD Radeon HD 7700 graphics cards for issues related to the GPU hanging when the system goes to sleep. Please ensure that your System BIOS is up to date. Some occurrences of this issue may be related to an outdated System BIOS.

So I was wondering if the RIVE had any issues with AMD 7XXX series cards hanging. If so what bios corrected this issue. I remember awhile ago when I built my rig I was having this issue so I disabled sleep. Anyways I am running on 1101 Bios.

Hi There! 🙂

BIOS 1202 has a 7970 specific fix..... " Fix PCIEx16 VGA card HD 7970 cannot be detected when the temperature of VGA less than -40. " though I have no idea if that is in any way related..... However it's the only card specific reference in any of the changelogs.

1005 was the first non beta bios with PCI ex 3.0 mTuning specifically for this card.

1005 is still my favorite BIOS to date for the RIVE.

I'm running 1404 with BOLTS4BREKFAST's OPROM update and two 7970's in crossfireX at GEN 3, 32g Corsair 2133 GT running at xmp with no issues in Wimdows, but, can't use/run safemode (I already posted about this-no one can help and not peculiar to this BIOS)-destroys my RAID array or BSOD.
Sleep and all else; ie: gaming, Office 14, any software/apps I have installed, all run without issue.

OK I did some testing and sleep is working as it should with AMD 12.6 drivers and 1101 bios. Thanks for the info. I didn't feel like updating my bios, this one has been pretty good to me so far.

Oh, forgot, I am running the 12.7 official beta along with the 12.7_cap1 Application Profiles. All the previous drivers play B2 like a slide show. This combo here fixes that for me.
Glad to read you got it solved 🙂
