Volume resets to 100% on M7F after every reboot

Not sure if this is a driver problem or just the way Realtek works. I'm running the latest Asus driver. I see that the station drivers site shows a newer one but I don't know if I'll lose Asus specific features like the Sense Amp with those (which I need with my high impedance headphones). Anyway the problem is I set the volume in windows to a specific level. If I reboot the PC it's back to 100% again. My last system which used a c-media based chip on a card from HT Omega did not do this. If it matters, I'm currently connected via the Optical port on the motherboard to my receiver.

Anyone have an idea on this? Is this really standard functionality for the Realtek chip to reboot at 100% volume every time?

I'm using the latest one from the Asus drivers page. If I try the station drivers ones will I lose any of the Asus version functionality like the headphone amplifier or DTS Connect?
