VI Hero - terrible USB performance, USB reliability issues

Hi all,
My MAXIMUS VI HERO board has been giving me nothing but problems since I got it.
Annoyingly, ASUS' support page does not let me file a ticket, because even that gives an error!

I'm having problems, all relate to USB.

1. My mouse and keyboard will randomly disconnect and reconnect.

2. When I copy a file from my SATA drive to USB3, the transfer works fine for a few seconds but the speed then drops to 0 bytes/sec

After long enough, Windows tells me:

Error 0x8007045D - the request could not be performed because of an I/O error

3. Sometimes when Windows tries to build thumbnails for the video files on the drive, the mouse pointer becomes very slow and the entire machine freezes.

Things I have tried to fix the problem:
* installing latest Intel chipset drivers
* installing ASUS AI suite
* flashing to latest BIOS version
* Loading BIOS optimized defaults
* Turning off Intel xHCI in BIOS

BTW, I have 650w PSU so I dont' think that a lack of juice is the problem. All of the same components (except different CPU and RAM) worked fine on my older Asus Sabertooth board.

I assume your using the usb 3 connection have you tried the usb 2 to see if its the same? I was having a problem with my keyboard connecting till I started using the keybot port. Is this a fresh OS install?

Arrrrrrrgh, ASUS' support form doesn't work and their live chat has just gone offline as I'm explaining the problem to them!

Yes, fresh OS install. I'm using one of the USB2 ports for the keyboard already.

I'm having a similar issue. I have Maximus VII Hero board. I connect my HP 128 GB USB stick to USB3 port and it connects and disconnects repeatedly. Works fine in USB2 ports. The odd time it will let me transfer a file but when it does, the speed is down to 50 to 60 MB/s. The stick is supposed to be good for 105MB/s write. I think it's the ASMEDIA driver because I've had the same issue on my Sabertooth 990 board.
