VI Hero Boot Problem

Hi,
I built this computer ( my first) about a year ago and have not had any major probs with it until about 6 weeks ago when it started having problems on start up. I found I would occasionally get a BSOD which would clear itself if I shut down and restarted. This has got worse and now I need to refresh on a regular basis, like most starts. I went for a high spec because I originally intended to do some overclocking but the computer has been fine for what I wanted so I've not messed with tweaking stuff in the BIOS and is totally standard. I cannot load anything and retain it after a restart as the PC will crash and need a refresh.
I thought it might be a problem with the memory so tried the Windows Memory tester but couldn't get a read out so I tried Memtest86+ on USB and a CD, again it crashes so I replaced the RAM entirely with Corsair but same problem so don't think its that.
The PSU seems okay so power not the cause.
After a couple of resets and several more refreshes I noticed that the Recovery Partition was missing. I stupidly hadn't made a recovery disc but managed to download one from MS and so that seems to be okay now with MBR replaced by GPT.
I'm starting to run out of ideas but think the BIOS settings aren't right with the Boot Priority though I can't see where I'm going wrong as I've reset it to original settings and then worked from there.
The Boot Priority is 1.UEFI Boot Manager ( SSD), 2. UEFI Pioneer DVD, 3. SSD, 4. DVD. Fast Boot is Enabled, CSM is Enabled, Boot Device Control - UEFI & Legacy, Boot from Network Device - Ignore, Boot from Storage Devices - Both, UEFI first, PCI Expansion Devices - UEFI first.
Secure Boot - UEFI and AHCI is enabled.
When the PC is running Internet access is fine until I try to load something, then on restart it crashes and I end up having to Refresh each time. That's why I think its probably finger trouble on my part and so hope you guys can help out.

Hello ChrisL

Crashing with memtest would point to instability of your ram, you may need to raise the cpu system agent voltage a little for 32GB.

What is the speed of your ram and is it a single 32GB kit?

Hi Nate152, thanks for getting back to me. The ram is GSkill Trident X 2400MHz in 2 kits of 2 x 8Gb each. Cache speed is 3500. When I tried to test the memory I used 1, 2 and all 4 sticks in different configs. I then replaced them with 2 x 8Gb Corsair sticks, all with the same result. As soon as I try to restart the PC crashes and I have to Refresh. I also tried with XMP enabled and disabled, no different.

You should not mix kits, even if the modules are the exact same brand & model.
Intel i9 10850K@ 5.3GHz
ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E
Corsair H115i Pro XT
G.Skill TridentZ@ 3600MHz CL14 2x16GB
EVGA RTX 3090 Ti FWT3 Ultra
OS: WD Black SN850 1TB NVMe M.2
Storage: WD Blue SN550 2TB NVMe M.2
EVGA SuperNova 1200 P2
ASUS ROG Strix Helios GX601

As NemesisChild says it's not a good idea to mix ram kits of the same specs.

First thing to try is with one stick of the trident x, you can try it in a red slot and a black slot.

With everything at stock settings your ram should be running at 1333MHz or 1600MHz, if you can boot to the bios try enabling XMP with one stick of the trident x installed, You can also try setting it manually.

It may not even be a ram problem, it could be corrupted windows or bios or possibly a driver problem or a failing piece of hardware.

If you get the same result with one stick of ram, try updating the bios, if that doesn't help try a windows reinstall.

If updating the bios and reinstalling windows doesn't help anything then you'll need to start looking at your hardware.

I just fixed this same problem with a hard reboot and setting bios to default.

Thanks to the 3 of you for getting back to me with the advice. I'll lose some of the Ram and go back to 16GB and try again from scratch.

Made some adjustments to the rig. Memory is now just 1 stick of Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHZ. SSD has been replaced with another similar one, UEFI has been set to default, CMOS battery has been changed and was left unpowered for 10 mins+, 2 Reboots and 3/4 Resets later I'm still getting the BSOD on start. When I've got the thing running I have updated all the drivers. Wondering if the Mobo is at fault as neary everything else has been changed.
Any ideas?

You replaced the SSD so I would assume you have a fresh install of Windows. I am thinking MB issue or setting issue in the BIOS. Do you have the latest BIOS? Also, what is Event Viewer reporting as regards errors?
