Hello everyone.

I bought this mobo 2 weeks ago and now finally got it up and running my core temps are about 28-32 degrees at idle and under heavy load max about 61 degrees, but hw info software shows these Nuvoton 6791D NCT temp 2 and temp 5 at 71 degrees and im wondering should i be worried about it and what are these temperatures anyway? I could not found info from google other than that they are some kind of sensors in motherboard i dont have even idea where in mother board these are.

MY builds specs are

Asus Max VI formula
evga gtx 780 ti sc
i7 4770k
noctua nh-d14
g.skill ripajaws Z 1866 2x8gb
ocz vector 150 240gb
CM Haf-X with 5 case fans 4x220mm and one 140mm
corsair ax850

nothing has been overclocked

Any help is greatly apreciated thank you

same here - i use HWINFO64 - it's not possible to find out where those readings come from.
I tested the MoBo with laser pistol (showing the temperatures) - 71°C no where to be found.

So i don't care anymore for those temp2 and temp5 readings - but have to commit ...
would be fine to know what exactly they show... (maybe it's °F and not °C and they missed
to convert it... 21,6°C sounds better ;-D )

The nuvoTon NCT 6791D chip provides the super I/O functions, such as fan control and system monitoring.

Well, I can confirm I have the exact same readings both on temp2 & temp5 (using HWiNFO64). That is actually the reason I stumbled into this thread; I too found both temperatures a bit high, wondered what the exact location of those sensors would be and started looking for an answer.
It seems I am not the only one getting these high temp readings, so for now I will just assume both of them are bugged or something?

fyi: am fix this issue (incorrect temp2,5) by updating ME firmware to 9.0.30.1482 on sabertooth z87

Cheers for the information as to how to fix.

actually am not 100% sure, but some time ago pay attention 4 that abnormal temps (>100C) going off from my system,
after update ME fw and cpu microde (from 12 in last bios to 17, by bios modification).
Here current screenshot from my system under 100% load (Prime Net).

warning: update ME fw little be dangerous than bios update (it's update locked region part of the bios),
in worst case you need manual update flash outside the motherboard.
good info, descriptions and links can be found here:

in my systems ME info always return communications error, i think because disabled (see HWiNFo -> MB -> ME & DMI -> vPro), but fully operational from DOS (boot from ASUS driver CD, as sample)
