Two really annoying problems with my asus maximus v formula

Hi All,

I have two really annoying problems with my Asus motherboard.

Before I start.. I am on the latest bios, updated all my firmware for SSD etc.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
240GB Corsair Force Series 3, 2.5"
G-Skill 8GBXL Ripjaws X for DDR3 PC12800 1600MHz 8GB Kit

First problem (the main one):

When using the PC all day, it suddenly goes really slow. Google chrome tabs will take ages to load, and all programs will hang, making the PC un-useable. I try and load steam or firefox the pc just hangs. I have tried to log off/on again still there. The only way to fix the problem is to restart the computer. Then suddenly everything is fine again. ARG.

Second problem:

Every morning when I turn my PC on, it says "New cpu installed, system halted". I have to reboot the PC again and then it boots. I have tried changing BIOS battery and as I said above I am on the latest BIOS.

Whats going on? Really annoying, is it a faulty motherboard?

Thanks

Welcome to the Republic of Gamers forums, Sc0rian.

Which method did you use to update your motherboard BIOS? And can you please post the rest of your system specs (PSU, heatsink, fans, etc). Thanks.

Hello Chino,

Thank you 🙂 I used the Asus Update on windows.

PSU: Zalman 1000w Power Supply - ZM1000-HP
Heatsink: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 CPU Cooler

If there is anything else, let me know!

Ok. Please do a reflash. Download the BIOS file again. Put it on a FAT32 formatted USB. Connect it to your system. Restart you system and enter BIOS. Flash your BIOS using the EZ Flash Utility there.

why not use the flash back method if you think the bios is corrupted ?
-load bios defaults, shutdown unplug psu ,replug ,use flash back ,boot ,load defaults, cold boot to windows, reboot and start changing settings. a bit redundant but that's what I do when updating a bios now days.

Hi All,

Thanks for getting back.

I have replaced bios battery so do not get the messages anymore. I reflashed the bios on the EZ Flash Utility.

I have re-installed windows but I still getting these terrible 10second hangs. Which only a reboot can fix. The hangs, are not a complete hardware lock, its just programs stall for a while till they do something, and internet pretty much stops (because everything keeps hanging).

Please follow this Memtest User Guide For ROG Motherboards to test your RAM. Let me know if you find any errors.

Yes, use the USB BIOS Flashback feature.

I have tried memtest and no errors.

I have tried different memory and still there.

I have rolled back my bios to 1408 still there. I will try 1309.

Its good to see its not just me. Its really really annoying. These hangs are happening so frequent, rebooting my pc is the only fix.

Thanks for your help so far.

I have to ask...What was the reason you flashed your BIOS for ? The original reason.
