I have a new error showing in my event logs.

": The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly."

Any ideas what in the world could be causing this ?

My key specs are :-

i5 4670k overclocked to 4.6 GHz (100% stable in prime 95 / aida 64 and gaming)

Asus Maximus VII Ranger with Bios version 1003

G Skill RipJaws G Skill 8G(2x4G)DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800 CL8 running in XMP Mode @ 1.5 mV ( i was using these in my Z77 build)

Sapphire R9 290X running @ Stock speeds

OCZ ZT650W Modular 80 Bronze PSU

Hyper X 240 GB SSD

Windows 8.1

Have you updated the bios to the latest version?

I have read on the forum here that there are compatability issues with ssd's that use the sandforce controller and Haswell.

Maybe try another ssd?

Praz mentioned that the "SF2xxx series (SATA 6Gb/s) have no issue with Haswell."

I confirmed my SSD is running the SandForce® Controller SF-228.

And i'm running the latest bios on my board with updated ssd firmware.

I have messaged one of our moderators to see if they can escalate these issues with Asus Tech Management 😄

In that case your bios or ssd shouldn't be what is causing the problem. Let's see what else we can find on this.

After reading through that thread, that's a good idea. It seems they think it is more software related than hardware related. AI suite and Driver sense II.

Do you have performance problems or BSOD's or anything like that?
