Temperature problem with Maximus IV Extreme-Z68

Not applicable
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Having problems with CPU Temperatures with using stock (out of the box) bios settings.

Not sure if this is normal behavior or not for this board.

In bios CPU temp is between 85 and 90 degrees Celsius. In fact first boot would not complete because of cpu temp warning in post, needed to ignore bios monitor to continue.

Read a few forums and then decided to install win 7 64 bit.

Checked the cpu temp (in OS) straight away after install and was between 50 and 75 degrees (idle).

ever since, i have had varying temps from 50 to 90 degrees.

I am a little worried as i am not overclocking yet and getting high temps.

Note it is winter here in Australia and my GTX 580 is always on 25 degrees idle.
Motherboard temps are between 17 and 20 degrees.
CPU socket temps are between 20 and 30 degrees.

My case is a Mesh type case with 6 case fans not including the CPU/VGA fans.

I am experienced with building pc's but never had the cash to step up to a ROG board.

System Specs:
Asus Maximus Extreme-z68 Rev 1 Bios = 0201
i7 2600k 3.4ghz LGA 1155
Stock intel cooler atm ( upgrading to Thermalright Silver Arrow later this week)
DDR3 Kingston 1333 2GB x 2 (on loan just to build pc, awaiting corsair 8GB)
Nvidia GTX 580
Corsair 1050 PSU
Corsair Force3 120GB SSD
WD 300GB 10K Raptor

I think you will find those temps will drop significantly once you upgrade the CPU cooler to the Thermalright Silver Arrow 🙂

@ Raja

thought so, just thought it was strange to not boot unless i ignored the bios cpu temp monitor.

will wait til i get the silver arrow to see what happens.

Sound to me like the CPU cooler is not well seat
