system can't boot with displayport MST on.

I'm have the rampage IV and 3 asus Titan's in SLI.
My monitor (Sharp pn-k321 - 32" 4k monitor) uses Display MST (multi stream transport).
If I turn this option on it works fine, rebooting is also fine. But a cold boot POST will not work. I have to power up a few time and get into normal/safe mode boot/bios to get it up again.

(to get 60hz at 4k - I need MST)

My guess is it needs a bios updated to address this. I have yet to try 4004 - which i'll do tomorrow, but I don't see release notes talking about MST.

full system specs:

Logitech G19 / G9, wired 360 controller

Thank you bumped up to the boffins in white coats. Thank you.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Asus release a firmware update for the titan (8/30) that has something to do with the tiled 4k displays..

I still can't POST when MST is on... but was that the fix they were trying to fix? or something else.

white coats have any input? even it wasn't to fix the MST issue (which everyone with a 4k display has problems with) - i'd be interested to know what issue was fixed 🙂

thanks!

"And after a fresh Windows 8 installation, we were unable to apply the 327.19 driver without crashing"

hrmm.. i haven't had crashing issues.. Just booting with MST on (pre-windows loading) - i wish i had 1/2 screen POST instead of no post.
I wonder if the new vbios only fixes the issue on the Asus monitor and not the sharp (they are the same monitor, but with different EDID)

Chcek the latest gforce driver, it updated some issues with 4k tiled 327.23.

tiled 4k has been working for a while in windows.. drivers are for windows.. the issue is with POST.
if the monitor is on (and in MST mode) the system will not POST. (ie, the system won't finish loading the bios)

ever person with a 4k monitor has the issue 🙂

and it is all hardware - because it is before windows loads. someone needs to release an update.. be that for the mobo, video card or monitor.. i don't know.. but it totally sucks!

asus released this for the titan:

Description VBIOS update for GTXTITAN-6GD5
Enhance compatibility with some 4K2K monitors
File Size 1,16 (MBytes) 2013.08.30 update

i installed it.. but it didn't change anything.
as far as i know there are only 2 monitors out now. The sharp and the asus (and the asus IS the sharp). so i wonder what "compatibility with some ..." means.

the bios is getting hung on something when the monitor is on, connected and in MST mode.

got a new titan bios from evga (which worked on my asus titans) - so the issue is fixed.

tho.. it would be nice if asus would update their vbios to 80.10.3E.00.01 (the one on the support side it 80.10.39.00.0a)

And by doing this you have effectively waived your warranty. Crossflashing cards is a very bad idea unless they're reference but even then if any issues come up your warranty is void.
