The lights on the board light when the PSU is plugged in, are the ROG heatsink LED's pulsing? If so the mobo isn't powered on, and you may have your switch wired the wrong way (pos and neg leads backwards most likely), have you tried using the START button on the top right of the mobo? If not try that, its a power on button.

You can't wire the power and reset switches wrongly, as they don't have any polarity like the LEDs. All they do is connect the pins upon pressing the switches, which means they can be connected either way.

That's is true, I forgot about that, however it they could still be incorrectly placed , IE incorrect headers.

Thinking it was the corsair cooler I took off the corsair cooler and put the stock intel cooler; this didn't change anything - still won't post.

Right now the only things connected is the PSU, and the stock cooler. I have the 24 pin power cable plugged and the CPU 8 pin plugged.

Yes I have tried pressing the start button. The ROG heatsink is pulsating. So something wrong with the PSU?

The ROG LED's are meant to pulse, that's one of the features with the VII series boards(so far I know it is for the Hero). Double check the 8PIN & 4PIN connectors are seated in firmly.

You may have short somewhere between the case and the board. Best way to rule that out is an out of the case build, its advisable to do an out of the case build every build and before you build in the case. Set the mobo on the box (don't use an anti static bag, it conducts electricity by design ) or any non conductive stable surface, install CPU, cooler (I usually use the stock cooler for this) ram and primary vid card, hook up the PSU and see if it posts, if it doesn't troubleshoot and take appropriate action, if it does post, remove primary vid card and repeat with any others one at a time if using multiple cards, they all check, move it into the case.

Its a pain doing that after already completing a build in the case, doing it before hand though takes 5 minutes or less.

Thanks for the replies, but it's still not working. I took everything out as iceman said. I left the stock cooler on. That is plugged in. The 24 pin psu connector is in. The CPU 8 pin connector is in. That's it. I turn on the PSU the board glows but than fan on the stock cooler doesn't turn nor does the PSU fan. And no POST. It makes springy noises when I press the start button or clear cmos.

Call tech support or try an exchange if you are still in the return window.

Is your PSU modular? If so make sure the plugs are in the right ports on the PSU, IE your CPU power plugs aren't in the PCIE and vice versa. Also if you have acess to a different PSU try that , if it works the issue likely lies in the PSU.

pull the mobo from the case and place it on the boc the mobo came in, try and see if its boots there.
PSU, CPU and 1 stick of memory only.
if its post's then there can be a grounding issue in the case.
