Strix b350-f Gaming

ginnus21
Level 7
I've built myself a ryzen 1800x, Strix b350f gaming, G Skill f4-3200c14 16 gtz.
Updated bios, so ram running at 3200mhz 14.14.14.34 no problem. I cannot get the motherboard to hold multiplyer of anything above 38.5.
Every time I set it to 40 or 41, it just boot to 38.5. Any ideas?

@Dataspike do you happen to have any good resources on memory overclocking ? And more specifically on bios settings of this board with explanations?

On the topic of 0805 yeah seems it is more stable indeed. Running Corsair LPX 3000@CL15. Managed 2 hours of Prime yesterday, but crashed right after i stopped it with IRQ less than zero or something error.

Nope, just a lot of r/AMD, overclock.net and buildzoid videos - thats all my knowledge about ram overclocking. Our corsair ram which uses Hynix IC's is not that great at working with Ryzen and vice versa right now, thats all.
I'm even thinking about buying the Flare X memory from G.Skill ^^

I believe this bug was also present on the ROG C6H and still hasn't been 100% fixed.

Our main tech guys are still working on getting these Ryzen boards up to par, but it will take time; please be patient 🙂

As I've said a few times now, the guys over at HQ will prefer to release quality updates/fixes, not release fixes every other day which fix one thing, but break 20 others

Thanks for the answer, Eleiyas.
Glad to see that this bug in known, sorry for my impatience, I was really sad about this issue and not being able to overclock the CPU at all basically.
Just using ZenStates now, working perfectly 🙂

Anyone else experiencing freezing where the power button won't respond at all and the reset button just turns the screen off? This happened to me twice in the last 2 weeks. The network controller also won't work properly after cold boot. It simply won't detect the cable plugged into the RJ45 socket and I need to restart the system to get it working. Core voltages also act a bit funny. During light usage it keeps jumping between 0.8V and 1.2V which is perfectly fine, but sometimes the voltages are way higher (close to 1.5V) while I'm doing almost nothing. This would be acceptable during heavy load with the boost clock kicking in, but this is not the case. I'm not sure (as I don't monitor voltages at all times) but freezing might be connected to this. I currently have the latest BIOS version. Had the beta before.

Freezing with black screen means that CPU is unstable. Are you running stock settings?
I also have this problem with network after resets.
1.5V on stock while boosting is OK, it is only for the few cores.

It's on Auto. 1.375V if I remember correctly.

hey !
I rencently got a new Strix b350-f Gaming board and G.SKILL 16GB Trident Z DDR4 3200MHz CL16 KIT F4-3200C16D-16GTZB.
with the old bios the OC ram speed was 2400 mhz with auto CL.
With the new bios i can made it to 3066 mhz with 1,375V , at the ram there is 3200mhz , 1,35V.
if i Do D.O.C.P. and i choose 3200mhz i got 3 restart and get back to bios.
Any idea ?
btw the lan issue is pretty wierd.

Was the RAM listed as supported by the bios?
My gskill f4-3200c14d-16gtz was.

Damn i Forgot to check the Trident Z, i would like to buy Ripjaws , i checked the QVL , then i forgot the Trident...
With the new bios it is Stable at 3066mhz , so i will wait for new bios update , and i hope it's get supported much more.
But With the new bios , my PSU make a little bit noise at games. ( i Got Corsair RM550Wx)

I have a pair of 3200MHz FlareX's. It's pretty much the same as the TridentZ, except for the heat spreader and it's supposed to work with the XMP profile out of the box even on the earliest AGESA versions. I tried it with the 1.0.0.6 beta at 3200MHz and Memtest failed after about 20 mins. I tried manual timings with tRc properly set to 48 instead of Auto and failed again, so I stopped bothering. I doubt the TridentZ would be any different without going way above the suggested 1.35V. Ironic how the sticks specifically designed for Ryzen CPUs fail. Guru3D had a June re-test session and it was pretty much just G.Skill RAMs that failed.

I had the exact same issue with the freezing and the network card. Re-installed Windows, with the difference that I have not installed the Aura utility. (just the latest AI Suite 3). Running perfectly stable ever since.

I didn't have that installed in the first place and I doubt it has anything to do with it. I only have the AI Suit for monitoring, running only on demand.
