Strix 970 and HDD Problem on Maximus VII Impact

Just experienced this problem. The com built in November 2014 was running fine until last week.

was playing Heroes of the Storm when Win 8.1 crashed and restarted, continued playing for next couple hours. when about to shut
down, windows crashed again but this time it could not restart due to CPU overheat at start up screen. went into BIOS and CPU temp
was at 88 degrees, cooling fan was running full blast. after getting new cooler and motherboard and re-installing, it could not detect
the Graphics Card and the Secondary HDD (same configuration as initial build from 7months ago).

ASUS support team advised to update the BIOS to the latest but still same problem.

any help appreciated.

Hello initialgme

Welcome to the ROG forum.

What code is the motherboard giving you when you try to start your pc?

thanks for the reply it was A2. but the com is up and running now but still unable to detect both components.

when i use a USB caddie with the HDD, the BIOS can detect it.

You say the problem with not detecting your gpu and hdd started when you installed the new cpu cooler maybe try reseating the cpu.

Windows 8.1 runs fine, the CPU is seated properly and everything works.

when i plug in the 4TB WD Black HDD, on any of the SATA ports, its not detected in the BIOS. i have confirmed that the cables and the SATA ports are working by connecting them the the OSSSD.

when Windows boot up, in disk management it doesn't detect the drive, but when i re-start windows and plug the HDD via a USB caddie it can detect the drive.
