Strange GENE-V offset problem

Bluntwrapped

Hi I have been trying to use a negative offset for my 2700k overclock with no success.

LLC set to Ultra High gives around 1.58 under load. Knowing my chip needs less than 1.44v for 5ghz I input -.1 which immediately shows up in red in the BIOS. I can't boot into windows even with -.025 offset.

Sorry if this has been asked before but am I missing something? :s

i have always had to use a + offset myself several rigs, if using a - offset must be because of failed oc and not cleared bios which is showing a high vcore still, i keep llc down lil lower for heat issues and make it up in vcore, just my 2 cents worth !

I have read about this issue with SB chips on Maximus V boards, OP is not the first one having same problem (0 offset overshooting greatly and negative ones don't work at all) ... I believe ASUS have quite a few things to fix in their BIOSes ... glad that Shamino is back, maybe there will be salvation for all the problems in next BIOS revision, I really do hope so, because I'm tired of Clearing CMOS to get things stable ...

Thanks for adding to the thread guys. I'm no further forward.

Stuck with using static voltages. 4.8Ghz @ 1.370v

I wish I had known about this before buying the board. It's useful having the extra 6gb/s ports but I probably would have bought another GENE-Z GEN3 instead.

I can take CoreTemp and CPU-Z screenshots if it'll help, but since I can't make even the smallest incremental change with a - offset I think the problem is BIOS related.

Confirm which bios you are using now please and I will try and duplicate with some SB processors. And explain again why you feel - offset is needed for your overclock?
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I'm using 1408 now as you suggested. 1604 has the same issue.

LLC auto and offset auto gives me massive voltage in Windows (1.58v+)

Changing LLC makes very little difference to load voltage, with medium LLC (Auto offset) I'm sitting around 1.56v.

I know my chip needs 1.368v for 4.8Ghz, so the offset needs adjusting with a negative value.

Cheers mate thanks for the recap.

Will pull out some boards and SB processors and see if I duplicate.

Great, thanks for this 🙂

Have you had a chance to try this yet HiVizMan? Just wondering how you got on.

I have it planned for the weekend my friend. As soon as I have some results I will post up here.
