Stability tests to determine Overclock success

Hello guys, I'm a newbie to Asus Mobos, and Maximus VI Gene has been the virgin for me.

I'm quite excited about its overclocking capabilities, so I decided to ask a few questions in advance.

In the past, I've used Lynx AVX 0.6.4 and Prime95 to check the stability, but I've just watched some Asus vids online and was informed to use AIDA64 and other benchmarking tests. The tech guy (sorry, I didn't hear your name;;) from Asus did not specify much of other tests, so I'm inclined to know other ones that can ensure me absolute stability in my daily use.

So, what should I start with?

Hi Kyrixlst welcome to ROG

I have played with all types of stability test and all have there strong and weak points. If you really want to test the over all stability of your system try RealBench it will test all sub systems of your computer as used in real world situations. giving you a more realistic test. heres a link check it out you wont find a better test than realbench.

There is a version 2 in beta so make sure you get the latest version. Have fun and enjoy

Meankeys is giving you good advice.
Give RB a whirl, it does a good job.
When I started down this road a few weeks back, I used IETU to test stability. (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility)
One night I thought I had a good OC and let IETU run its stress test overnight.
Ran for about 9 hours and passed with flying colors. That morning I hopped on these forums and found that RealBench thread.
I decided to give it a try.
Well, the system threw a 0124 BSOD within 15 minutes, on the very settings that had run IETU overnight.

FWIW,
Matt

I use 3 programs and run them in this order.

Start with IEM (the intel extreme tuning utility) and run the benchmark. After that i run a video encode with handbrake. I usually use a file between 1-2gb and use super high compression settings. That seems to stress my system more then anything else i have ever tried. The time is usually 50-70 min. And last i use the Rog Realbench. The realbench is more like a safety net. I have had a benchmark/stress test run overnight but my video encode with kill it by 20% of the vid encode
