SSD comparability Striker Extreme HELP

Hi all, not sure if this is the right place to post but it is in fact a ROG board 😉 So for the time being, here goes...

My problem is I bought 2x 128GB Kingston SSDNow V100+ SSD (because cheap!) to use as a RAID0 OS disk on an old ASUS Striker Extreme LGA775 nForce 680i mobo but with it all components connected, the BIOS does not recognize these SSD's no matter what BIOS configuration I try to get the BIOS to detect the SSD's in. Using one SSD connected to SATA port 1 or 2 or 3 and so on yet still no detection and swapping around the BIOS SATA and IDE settings, I cant think of anything else.

SSD RAID0 does work on these Motherboards as I've read countless times on forums so I think its a problem with the SSD's, they even come with their own external enclosures to use as USB external storage yet they will not show up in Windows 7!

Motherboard BIOS firmware is '2002' which is the latest available through ASUS website.

This could be a problem with the SSD'S as there is firmware available for these SSD's which could help but the firmware update procedure requires burning the firmware image to disc, booting from the disc and updating the SSD that way BUT as the BIOS/POST does not detect the SSD, the firmware updater does not detect the SSD either, Kingston states in order to update the SSD you must use IDE BIOS settings and disable SATA ... Doing this does not detect the SSD either.

According to Kingston, the SSD firmware update is a MUST because these SSD'S have been known to fail a lot of the time and the update has the fix...

Maybe a third party Motherboard BIOS firmware might help ... Or actually updating the SSD's through a more modern PC.

This is my personal system for now (lol) so any help is much appreciated! Thanks.

My Crucial M4 works perfectly fine. If yours doesn't show up in the BIOS and works fine another board, then upgrading their firmware seems like the only option at this point.

Hi..

I am at a P5E3 deluxe ddr3 (775) Q6600

And i tried installing a SSD, but it was not stable. so i installed a Raptor instead, for OS disc..

I am not fully at home, when it comes to these vintage boards, and pch prob isnt the same as the striker..

These vintage boards are really nice, for everyday use..

You will need to set the bios SATA mode to AHCI to install your OS. Also know that you will not get the full speed of your SSD if you have one that is a 6G due to the SATA ports on that board not being 6G.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.
