1. No, you can update to the latest version.

2. If your system is working properly, you don't need to use the USB BIOS Flashback procedure. Just update with BIOS using the EZ Flash utility in the BIOS.

3. Nope.

4. There are tons of them. Do a search on Newegg.

And, if your system is stable and it isn't presenting any problems, please do not update your BIOS.

For the EZ flash does it have to be a .rom file or a .pup will work too?

Thank you for the help Chino.

I'm coming from a Maximus V Formula (IVY BRIDGE) setup. Where is the best overclocking guide for Haswell w/ Devils Canyon cpu out there???

Also what is your opinions on the best oc method? Since I am used to ivy bridge I am concerned that if I settle on an "adaptive" oc method that I may forget that its set that way and run a stress test which would potentially damage the cpu. With that being said is it best to find my max stable oc using manual voltage and then use offset for 24/7 use. Or is adaptive the best way to go with Haswell?
All comments and opinions and links are welcome, Thanx!

In a nutshell:
1. Change the multiplier to the overclock you want to achieve.
2. Change voltage to manual.
3. Set a inicial voltage to start testing perhaps 1.25v.
4. Run stability test. I like ROG Realbench.
5. If unstable, raise voltage by 0.005v until stable.
6. Once stability has been achieved, set voltage back to adaptive.
7. Set the final voltage that you were stable with.
8. Enjoy your system.

Just a note that I received my M7F a couple days ago, updated the bios before it was even installed with the Flashback button, downloaded and unzipped all the updated software drivers/utilities from the asus support site, re-used my old ram and heatsink (noctua nh-d14), made (and tested) a full Windows System Image disk backup, then installed the board, booted Win8.1, installed all the drivers, and reactivated windows via phone. No OS clean install needed, yay! Very pleased! BTW, this site provided some good tips for verifying the OS is healthy before making a back up https://www.winhelp.us/system-image-backup-in-windows-8-1.html

Hi 🙂

I have a little Problem with my Formula VII. I changed from MSI Mpower and now with Asus the Sound output from the optical Port is very very low. In Windows the treble is set to maximum but the amplitude is so low.

Look here :

thanx for help 🙂

That simple huh? Thanks Chino, I have been doing some reading and noticed there is alot more info on overclocking z87 (obviously). Can I assume that everything is relevant from z87 to z97 (UEFI voltage settings etc.)

also any other recomendations for stress testing, I planned on dloading Aida64 and will dload realbench again. Thought about trying x264 but not sure how to use it.
