SOME USB 3.0 Ports Randomly fail...

Hello All!

So i'm getting this problem with my M4E-Z... in the last few days i have had the top USB 3.0 ports die on the rear I/O panel die... meaning they are not functioning temporarily until i execute the following procedure. First I uninstall the Renesas Drivers (2.1.36.0) and 2nd clear CMOS. When i boot back up after restoring all of my settings, i re-install the drivers and all is well... now this has happened twice since i have updated my bios from 3304 to 3402... is this going to be another one of those things i have to live with with this board? i'm already having to trouble shoot random double boots and hangs every boot.. i think this might put me over the edge... thanks for all the help and replies!

p.s. this is what is looks like in the device manager...

I had that problem!!!

plug the PSU out (no power in the computer all the lights are off)

and then take out the board battary for 20 sec (reseting the board)

and then just overclock again set time and you're ready to go!

report back if there's another problem 🙂

The USB thing I can not really help you with, that is something that I have had to deal with in the past too. Funny thing is I did nothing to fix it and have not had a failure in some time. But that does not help you.

But maybe the other stuff we can work out if you are up for it.

Your best bet would be to flashback to a pre 3 series bios, theres a lot of people on here with so many problems after flashing to the 3 series bios's.
ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z
AMD FX 8350 (1252)
INTEL CORE I7 2600K (3134A867)
ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME-Z (0002)

OCZ VERTEX 3 120 SSD
GIGABYTE 890FXA UD7 REV 2.1 (F3)
GIGABYTE 890FXA UD7 REV 2.0 (F3)
VARIOUS AMD CPU's
8 GIG G-SKILL SNIPER LOW VOLTAGE 1600
4 GIG G-SKILL RIPJAWS X 2133 C9
8 GIG CORSAIR VENGEANCE 1600 C8 (HYNIX)
CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 800D
CORSAIR HX1000W PSU
2X RADEON HD6970'S XFIRE
4X SAMSUNG F3 1T HDD's 2X RAID 0
CUSTOM WATERCOOLING

Thanks to everyone for the responses... yeah it seems that if i just reset the bios and then reconfigure (re enter over clock) its all good... i just re-flashed to 3304 and haven't had a problem since... looks like im good to go again! i love the idea of this board, but have to admit that i might be over my head since im a novice computer overclocker / enthusiast and probably am doing things wrong that i don't even know... i just built a buddy a Ivy Bridge z77 rig and it was awesomely simple and fast!!! (Asus p8z77-pro of course!) maybe its time for me to leave the over clocking to the pros!!!

thanks again for the help everyone!!!

p.s. Has anyone had problems with hibernation/this board/i72600k/overclocking? just wondering, i vaguely remember someone telling me that it was some internal chipset (z68) issue that made it impossible to overclock and hibernate/sleep...

The old issue you might be referring to was the Enable PLL overrider setting that was reset to default on wake from hibernate. And this was a problem if you were over 5GHz on your overclock.
