Hi Folks,
is there any fix or Bios to boot from sm951 in PCE-Adapter?

I´m on Bios 1603 and installed Win8.1 in Uefi Mode , but no success with booting.
Are there any Workarounds for the SM951 on M6F?

OK then the UEFI Modules (DXE) are your Problem.

Extract following Modules and put them in your Firmware File:

Ahci170
NVME
Samsung_m2_dxe
SataDriver

P.S. Put the Drive in lowest PCI-E Slot (away from CPU)

Thanks for the tips.

I might be missing something obvious but can't find Ahci170 or Satadriver in your fw, impact or rampage. There is an AINT which might be Intel?

Been trying some more modules, I noticed you replaced the Sata with RaidDriver_14_0_0_2198 so did the same, also changed AINT13 and IntelSaGopDriver. Have also tried changing PCI-E slot.

I was looking through your mobo specs and noticed: http://rog.asus.com/technology/republic-of-gamers-motherboard-innovations/mpcie-combo-2/

Do you use this? If so it might be that my motherboard really is not capable of using this m2 card by hardware limitation.

SirOli, could you please explain where you inserted the new modules or how to update the existing modules? I've been doing a ton of reading on multiple websites, but it's a bit confusing.

Thanks

I've also got a Samsung SM951 (AHCI!) and an ASUS Z97-K/USB 3.1
I already extracted the SAMSUNG_M2_DXE from the AsRock BIOS, inserted it into the latest ASUS BIOS and flashed it using AFUDOS. While this did not break anything the drive is still not recognized in Win 8.1 or Win 10 installer, only shows up as "Generic Storage Device" in the BIOS.

Is the NVME Portion also required to get it working? The latest Z97-K/USB 3.1 BIOS already has a NVME (and NVMESSM) driver of about the same size. So if its a requirement I guess it has to be replaced rather than inserted?!? What About AHCI and SATA_Storage, I think these should be completely optional?!

I have a Maximus vi Extreme.........and I have been trying to get my samsung sm951 Nvme to work on it............this is indeed the Nvme version and not the Achi.
And I'm about ready to give up, I have tried the modified bios courtesy of Siroli..( thanks!) but so far its a no go, couple more nights and just might give up.
P.s if I cant gets these sm951 to work on this board I might give them up for sale...as stated they are the Nvme version .( if anyone maybe interested in the future.(.I had a hard time getting a hold of these)

But on to my main question...to verify. That modded bios I received will work with Nvme?..right?

I have managed to run my Samsung MZHPV512HDGL-00000 (AHCI version) on ASUS Maximus VI Extreme with Lycom DT-120. Had to try 20-30 SAMSUNG_M2 modules from many different BIOS. I found a working one at last. So basically you need to try till it work.

Download link to module is here: http://www.filedropper.com/samsungm2dxeasrock

So basically, you need to try to extract with MMTool, and insert in your original BIOS different SAMSUNG_M2 modules till it work.
I have just added SAMSUNG_M2 module at index 04, no other modules needed (AHCI Version). And flash bios via flashback method. You need to rename BIOS CAP file to "M6E.CAP" for Maximus VI Extreme. Be careful, I have bricked my BIOS several times, thanks BIOS2.

Then you must see your drive in BIOS boot section (I see it as is, Samsung MZHPV512HDGL-00000). But this is not enough, in order to boot windows with this disk, you need to install Windows in EFI mode.
To install windows in EFI mode, your boot media have to be in EFI mode, then it automatically installs in EFI mode.

- Use Rufus to create install media. And dont forget to select "GPT partition scheme for UEFI". - https://rufus.akeo.ie/
- Take all disks offline, you don't want to windows installer to use old boot partition.
- Install windows normally from previously created media.
- Enjoy!

Edit: I was using Windows 10 on old SSD, was upgraded from Windows 8. And couldn't activate when I directly install Windows 10 in new SSD. In this case, you need to install Windows 8 first, then upgrade it again. Remember, you have to create both media in EFI mode. Maybe this saves someone's time, I have wasted so much time because of this step.

Edit 2: I haven't disable CMS in BIOS, and it's working here. I don't know, maybe you have to disable it as others suggested. Just try.

Does the NVME version of the drive work on unmodded Maximus VI at all, even if not set as boot device? Can you store stuff on it?
