So what can I use the mSATA slot for?

should I use it for caching? Or can i use it with a larger drive?
ALL of my SATAs are used at the moment. My system is on SSD 240g drive. All the rest are plus 2tb drives for storage.
Is there an adaptor to use a standard sata drive? Hell i would even settle for using it to run my DVD drive.
Not going to install the OS on it as its only SATA 2 😞

????? ideas

Haven't seen any adapters yet, so caching your mechanical drives off the mSATA seems like the best idea at the moment.

And get a USB3 DVD drive, that'll free up one of those SATA ports.
Who uses DVD these days anyway

I actually still burn quite a bit of audio CDs, and unfortunatly the SATA one I have is considered one of the best for that. Well thats not actually and "unfortunatly" but you understand.
If the damn thing was just SATA 3 i'd use it for the OS, that was plan A befor i discoverd the limitations of it. Oh well

Mate if you desperately need more SATA ports I guess you are going to have to get a PCIe card that will facilitate that. Or ( 🙂 ) start swapping out and replacing your 2TB drives with 4TB drives. Need some serious green for that one but ....

Sorry there is no easy fix.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

That is probably the best bet. Those PCIe cards aren't all that expensive (at least compared to 4 TB drives - which I didn't know existed til now :)), so it would be the most budget friendly method of expansion, provided that your system has enough drive bays and power supply.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

It's not so bad, as i have a removable drive bay to swap out one if my ports as needed. It is more an issue with "gee i wish i could use that" then anything else.

yeah, I wish there was a msata to sata adapter so that I could stick a regular sata cable into that port. Alas, it doesn't appear to exist
