Small irritating issue, any suggestions

Hey,

So iv had this issue since day 1. Now its sorta irritating.

MOBO doesn't detect an Ethernet cable for a good solid .. 3 minutes after boot. Have to wait. Try trouble shoot, 50/50 chance of it finding the cable. Otherwise wait 3 mins.

Cables a CAT 6 DIY from future shop. Works great on other comps/Xbox 360.

Attempts to solve:::
- Flashed Latest Bios on comp
-Re-Installed windows on SSD
-Tried using Mechanical drive with windows.
-All Windows updates done.

Currently installing 2012.01.09 Update driver

If Anyone can suggest anything else?

Thanks guys.

That one is simple...Less distance for the Signal to Travel= Less Ping... Ping is the 'Time to Travel Both Directions'. Glad you got yours fixed...but I'm still having the same problems and I've only got 4 feet of cable with Good ends and Good Wire, I tested it with both Resistance test and Frequency Loss Detection and both are with in Spec. I've even tried switching HD's to one with a Clean Fresh install of Windows 7.

Have you tried manually setting the IP Address of your NIC?

Yepper's, the only thing I haven't tried is changing the BOOT Order of the Drivers because I'm not sure which one is the NIC considering I have about 10 that look similar so some more research is in order later today when I get the PSU in.

.....you can do that? well i'll be damned, never knew that

That's something we used to do in XP to get certain drivers up faster or when we had problems. like Steam would load before the Network Driver and Steam would Fail, or other such nonsense...also it was a way to boot to a useful state faster in so instances.

Damn.. wish i could help you Daemon.

The only thing i can advise is "Process of elimination" But sounds like you have done that.

What Router model are you using? And how old is it? Have you done a firmware update to it? Is it wireless and how fast does your smartphone/laptop connect after turning on wifi? If they connect fast, then sounds like issues with your Ethernet ports.

also, have you tried using a Brand New router? Have you checked ur current router for any settings that could be interfering? Also, have you tried a different computer on the same cables?

Sorry if this is taking to long to get back...but I'm in the Middle of a Full Reinstall....Just got the new PSU in today and been working on this system since! YAAAA HOOOOOOO! I got my HD 5870 Back up! but no it hasn't solve the issue...The Thunderbolt which is just installed won't go no faster than .98Mbps but the Intel NIC does the full 30Mbps, Now Both NIC's are taking forever to connect??? WTF as to the Router it's a New Motorola Surfboard SBG6580, Wireless is turned off in it by TWC but it's got 4 Gigabit Ports built in....GRRRRR! Next up is all of the Updates before I can install any of my Games....
