setting memory to xmp profile

so have my new build up and running and of course win 7 install didnt like the timing. my question is i see the differnt jedec spec and xmp profile in information. how or where do i set the memory to the intel xmp profile that the memory is rated at so the timings and such are all set up correctly and it should run stable.

Which mobo? It should be described in the manual, on M5E IIRC it's the in the xtreme tweaking section

AI Overclock Tuner in the Xtreme Tweaker section in the bios. Is your system unstable with default (non-XMP) values? I had the same issue, couldn't get the system stable until I've enabled XMP

Often XMP profile does not set DRAM voltages correctly so after enabling the profile make sure the voltages are correct for your RAM sticks.

system is rock solid. its currently running at 99924 1t at 1333 and the mem is xmp rated 1866 910927 2t. i realize it would be faster at the xmp set up but right now i am super happy that it is rock solid stable. I have all 4 dimms filled and wonder as i have in the past setups if boosting it in speed will make things unstable with all 4 dimms filled.

for the immediate future i am not overclocking as the system eats anything i through at it with ultra settings. so it comes down to bragging about overclock and seeing a modest increase in speed to an already fast set up or sticking with a rock solid stable system that is well under temp under several hours of gaming heavy load.

Thank you all for the information though, it has helped a lot and shown me a lot of where stuff is when i decide to boost the system down the road a bit to meet the new gaming requirements.

Rock solid vs speed My view is to run with rock solid, the gains you get with a few extra MHz of speed are so slight I honestly do not know why so many people bother.

You know what I can not agree more. for the long moment it will stay at stock jdec specs. not even gonna worry about overclocking the cpu even tho i know full well it can easily be done. stuff is so fast. i think the true bottle neck was the old HDD even in sata are no where close to the speed of an ssd.
