Secure erase : compatible with SSD Samsung 830 ?

Hello,

Is the SSD Samsung 830 512 GB compatible with the secure erase feature embedded in the Maximus VI Hero bios ?

Indeed, by reading the manual, I see that the SSD must be compatible otherwise the risk of corrupting it exists. I consulted ASUS website, I found a supported vendors list where supported hardware is listed. The closest SSD I found is the SAMSUNG SSD 840 PRO SERIES 128GB.

The absence of my SSD in the list does not mean it is not supported.

Your opinion ?

I did it with the Samsung 840 Pro, I'm pretty certain you'll be fine with the 830. And if you're really scared, just use the Windows one.

On the product pages there should be a QVL for SSDs.

In other words: I have a Samsung 840 pro 256gb and looking for a motherboard. I do like the Maximus vi Hero and MSI z87 gd65 gaming motherboards. Had only the QVL for SSD's, for the vi Hero, shown that i could use the Secure erase on my SSD, i had purchased the Hero, but it didn't so i went with the gd65....
