Hi Guys,

Seriously need help 😞

I bought a new computer set and im new to Maximus IV extreme board and im no good tech guy, I was wondering if big problem will occur on 520watts PSU like hardware failure? I was planning on buying CORSAIR 1000w PSU but still no budget for now

I have this problem that my monitor goes black during POST.. No ROG logo , No Windows Logo, Only black screen, but, it has Windows startup Sound which is weird ...
I also encountered Boot Loop which goes OFF and ON every 1 sec after pressing POWER BUTTON but already solved by reverting BIOS settings to default. Never tried to manually edit anything but manually tried memory settings to 1600+ (cant remember specific)

Steps I made to try to fix things:

  • Reset CMOS
  • Clean FORMAT hdd, Install fresh windows
  • Check monitor if works on other computer and works just fine

850W is all you should need even with the specs you posted 1000w is overkill.

Are you using a HDMI cable to a TV?

Please list the cable type, connection and where, plus your monitor used.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

@HiVizMan

Ok, will post ASAP when I get home, Im currently at work 🙂 , oh wait, which cable do you mean? from PSU? I think ill just take a pic then if possible then post here 😄

my current connection is from VCARD to SAMSUNG Monitor
and has DVI (Vcard) to VGA (monitor) using converter since Vcard has no VGA port.

Nope I need to know your VGA cables please. There are a number of instances where the BIOS screen will not be presented if the native resolution of the monitor used is not compliant, and cables also impact on the output. So just let me know what type of VGA cable you are using please.

@HiVizMan:

Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster sa300
Cable : Hotron E246588 AWM style 20276 VW-1 80c 30v AWM I/II FT1 1115
(Really dont know how to read cable type, Looks like a generic blue VGA cable for me)

along with the cable is a DVI converter from VCARD

Got my PC working smooth now and actually using it to post now but still, I have problem with the bootup. After i shutdown my PC and power it on again it dont work and no windows7 bootup sound.

I need to press power for 5 sec to turn off PC., then turn it back on again to make it work normally. Really weird.

Things I did:
I tried to reseat everything (VGA, MEMORY, HDD, PSU etc. Except Processor)
Restore BIOS settings to Default

Thank you the information is brilliant. If at all possible are you able to use another cable, one that does not need an adaptor. I am still focusing on the issue of no BIOS screen being visible. Has this been resolved yet.

If you are able to enter BIOS I would suggest you flash your BIOS to the latest three series BIOS for your board.

Cheers

@HiVizMan

Yes I can enter BIOS setup. (Did some search on ASUS website and saw my board BIOS update files)
Is this the right version? I see 5 new version I saw from website
THIS LINK

Version 1904
Version 2105
Version 2302
Version 3208
Version 3211

Should I install from lower to highest? or just pick the highest? I am really a beginner when it comes to bios 😄

Can I use the WinOS from ROG software Bios updater? (Doesn't seem to download anything just keeps loading )
My current BIOS version which I see from utility is Version 2001

Sorry for spamming thread... I really love the Mboard and the one sold me dont really know what to tell me
when I ask questions. I cant RMA the board yet since It takes time and shop sucks at this things.
