ROG Strix X370 F Gaming Overclocking Bugs

I'd like to share some bugs I've found with this motherboard and hopefully they can be fixed.

M.2 Slot stops detecting any drive when overclocking Base Clock (APU Frequency)
If the APU Frequency is overclocked to a value over 101Mhz, you will not be able to utilize a M.2 drive.

CPU ratio locking at 15.5
When using the default APU Frequency of 100 (never tried with other values) and use a ratio higher than 38 (haven't tried lower values), when loading into your system the CPU ratio will show as 15.5 in any asus monitoring software (1.55Ghz), Windows Task Manager will show the correct speed expected from the ratio set in the BIOS, but benchmarking proves the CPU ratio has gone down to the value of 15.5

I had to compensate for this. In my system I'm using a APU Frequency of 125Mhz, Performance Core Boost disabled, C States enabled, a CPU Load Line Calibration of Level 3, Optimized CPU Power Phase Control & 100% CPU Current Capability.
Depending on the CPU ratio I set I will get voltage readings that are way over or way less than the max CPU voltage set. For example with a CPU ratio of over 30 and a CPU Voltage of 1.3875V, I get a voltage reading of 1.426V on idle and a voltage of 1.442V on full load. With a CPU ratio of 28 and a CPU Voltage of 1.3875, I get a voltage reading of 1.345V and a voltage of 1.365 on full load.

i have tested with the new BIOS release of 8010 and i am still getting the 2.2ghz OC bug. PLEASE HELP. i am running a Ryzen 1600x

A new bios dropped Friday, number 817 a quick check last night and I was able to set the multiplier to 38.5 and voltage to 1.4 manual direct setting and it booted at 3850 instead of 1550. I also ran a short stress test with CPUZ and all seemed well. My memory is also running at rated 3200. I'm goingto try to work up to 4 gig on the cpu this week. Oh I am running the 1700 ryzen.

hi, with that bios do we have the Sense MI Skew option to fix cpu temperatures? I'm using the 9001 bios just because of that

I am not using the skew setting and as far as I can tell the temp reading is accurate. I think the 813 bios fixed that for me but had the overclocking bug. I was using the 9001 for the temperature issue until the 813 came out, then the temp seemed to be reporting correct. running last night at 39 multiplier 100 bus no issues at all too 🙂

Well I upgraded to the latest BIOS and still can't set my RAM to the proper timings. I'm seriously fed up with this and probably won't be buying Asus motherboards anymore. This is just pathetic.

That is interesting, don't have these issues at all, I am not touching base clock at all, left it on auto, (100mhz)running 1800x @4.1 (41x multiplier), using offset 0.075v. Also llc level 4 and vrm frequency 600. It does drop on load, as it should, but my biggest concern is cpu temp. Is it normal 28c on idle and 68c on prime 95 load, mind you custom water loop with massive cooling capacity, GTX 1080FE on full water block which goes after CPU in the loop, only gets to 29c on full CPU load. Haven't installed water temp sensor yet but the radiator feels colder than my hand.
Thermal grizzly paste and ek supremacy evo block. Tested on 9001 BIOS, and its not an offset issue.
And yes, I have reseated cpu block twice already, using Arctic silver and grizzly with the same outcome. Will try gelid gc extreme, if I can find the spade(it's not in a syringe) [emoji5]
Will try to play with p states, I would like to OC using power states, so on idle frequency and voltage would drop, for CPU to be less strained/stressed. I did that on 4790k, oc to 4.8, it would drop frequency and voltage to low loads.
Also, another very nasty bug imho is Asus suite, that makes my PC crash randomly. Even with no settings done, only loaded to systray, PC randomly crashes, on load or in idle, when overclocked that is. Issue has gone after I uninstalled it.

I don't think it's an issue on Ryzen 7 X chips, if it is it's to a lesser degree.

I had no problems with an 1800x and a 1700x, but 6 different 1700 chips would all lock to 1550MHz when pushing manual voltage.

Is anyone else having an issue with memory timings not being applied? I have a 15-16-16-35 tRC 51 kit, but it only runs at 16-16-16-35 tRC 69 no matter what I set the timings to in the BIOS.
