Motherboard: ROG Strix TRX40-E Gaming
SSDs: 4 x Samsung SSD 860 EVO 4TB
Setup: 2 of those drives run in RAID 0 mode. 2 stand alone.
Issue: performance degradation
Performance of SATA Samsung SSD 860 EVO 4TB is lacking comparing to Asus Prime Deluxe x299 (intel HEDT) with i9-7900X. Setup for those systems is exactly the same. Content of SSD is practically exactly the same, operating system is same additional drivers installed from Asus page for TRx40. Only difference is motherboard & raid controller.
SATA controller for both x299 and TRx40 is in RAID mode.
NVMe:
x299:
TRx40:
Performance of NVMe is, more or less, within error margin. It's slower on TRx40 but at those speed levels it's something that I can't notice.
SSD issue:
x299:
TRx40:
This one is more severe. Non RAID drives writes are basically halved on TRx40 platform.
For example here is RAID 0 performance ( 2 x Samsung SSD 860 EVO 4TB)
x299:
TRx40:
I do understand that those are two different platforms with different controllers but still I would appreciate word from Asus tech stuff. Are these performance something normal or I'm stuck with broken motherboard?
