Hi all
First post here.....
A couple of weeks ago, I purchased an ASUS ROG STRIX B450 F along with a Ryzen 5 3600. I transferred over my RAM (Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15), Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC 4GB, Corsair RMi Series 850W power supply and Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB NVMe M.2 Internal SSD.
I had a Ryzen 3 2200G so used that initially to get the latest BIOS (3003). I then popped the 3600 in, set the DOCP for the RAM etc; system booted, no issues. Downloaded and installed the latest AMD chipset drivers and all has been good since.
The other day, following switch on, I got a blank screen, it didn’t even get as far as the BIOS message. After a bit of routing around on the forum, I cleared the CMOS and got it to boot. Powered down and up and, same blank screen. All my fans, including the cooler, spin up but the board LED sequence is Orange, Red then sticks at White (VGA?). Tried the CMOS clear, battery out but, this time, no go. Out of curiosity, I put the 2200G back in, booted up with no issues.
I exchanged the 3600 assuming it had died. Popped the new one on today, CMOS cleared, battery out but, still get the blank screen. 2200G back in, no issues.
The BIOS screen is showing me all the voltages are OK so, I’m a bit stumped as to why it doesn’t like the 3600 anymore. The only thing I initially did was remove the 970 EVO drive from my old machine and put it straight into this; I didn’t want to reinstall Windows (and all the other stuff) if everything worked ok. Apart from Windows doing some initial ‘setting up’, I’ve not had a single glitch with it.
Being new to ASUS boards, just wondering if anyone’s got any ideas as to why it likes the 2200 but, all of sudden, not the 3600.
Cheers
