ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING issues

Hello,

Anyone experienced the following with the mentioned board:

After 6/10 system starts my system don't see the LAN adapter or my mouse at all. I need to restart the system or replug my mouse to solve the issue. I've experienced the mouse connection issue within UEFI too. Furthermore I experiencing further annoying problems, such as random video signal loose (especially when I start a fan calibration within AISuite 3). After that, I can only revive my system with a hardreset.

I tried to reinstall windows/nvidia driver/chipset driver, etc. And of course, I have the latest BIOS version.

Now, I sent back the board to the vendor, because ASUS Support advised that. They will revise it. I hope soo, that they won't evalute that it's just a SW related issue...

It appears that BIOS 6042 is no longer beta, for those that were concerned about using a beta: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b350-f-gaming-model/helpdesk_bios

I also noticed that but the supported cpu list was not update, is that truly a final release?

Also, I'm moving from a r5 1600 to a r5 5600, any steps I need to do before updating or can I just flash this last version? Is that a big risk?
If I'm not wrong I'm using the original BIOS: Version 0806.

Thanks!

You'll probably be fine. But that's a fairly big jump in terms of BIOS version, make a recovery USB to be sure: https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1012219

Obviously, flash the new BIOS before you install the new CPU. Updating your AMD Chipset drivers might be a good idea as well

Indeed though I did try it while it was still in beta but its good that its now official. Its a decent update that fixed the fTPM issue for me with no performance issue and ram still runs stable at 3200 where some past bios have caused instability forcing down clocking

Reporting back after updating the BIOS to latest 6042 stable in order to install my 5800X3D (replacing 3700X). Everything works PERFECT. I use rock-stable both Linux and Windows. I use 4x8GB RAM dimms:
1) 2x8GB G.Skill FlareX F4-3200C14 14-14-14-34
2) 2x8GB Corsair CMK16GX4M2D3600C18 18-22-22-42

I now run my total RAM prime-stable at 4x8 GB 3533 MHz 18-22-22-22-42-64 (still tweaking timings, I might tight them more)

BIG THANKS to AMD and Asus for that kind of support!!!!!!

I bought my ROG Strix B350 Gaming-f 5 years ago, paired with a Ryzen 1600. After a couple of years I upgraded to a 3700X and now I've upgraded to a bleeding-edge 5800X3D on the SAME mobo. This kind of platform longevity is without precedence!

Tottaly agree with you, what a big jump probably more than double the performance at least. By any chance do you recall how many Bios flahses were required ? I may jump from the r5 1600 to the r5 5600, but I'm still with the original 0806 bios version. Tks and enjoy your upgrade as well. I heard AMD may keep lauching am4 cpu even next year (maybe).

Thanks!

I don't recall exactly how many BIOS updates I have done. Back in the Ryzen 1600 days, I 've done 3-4 updates trying to overcome some RAM issues. When my RAM issues solved I stopped updating BIOS.

When I upgraded to 3700X I flashed another BIOS that supported ZEN 2

Finally I flashed the last available BIOS in order to support and install 5800X3D

Totally, maybe 6-7 BIOS flashes.

Can anyone confirm that Cezanne APUs (Ryzen 5 5600G and Ryzen 7 5700G) runs without issues on this motherboard? I was not successful finding just one example where it was really proven. Thanks in advance for your links or experiences.

I run my 5800X3D on this board ROCK-STABLE for over a month now. 5800X3D is a 105w TDP cpu

I don't think you will have any problem with 5600G/5700G which are 65w TDP parts.

Go for it!

Has anyone with a RTX 3000 series GPU been able to use Resizable BAR on this motherboard?

I am considering swapping out my 3100 with a 5600x and 1050 Ti with a 3060/3060 Ti so I was wondering if that would work.

I am using Resizable BAR on this board with my 5600XT. I don't know about nvidia GPUs
