ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING issues

Hello,

Anyone experienced the following with the mentioned board:

After 6/10 system starts my system don't see the LAN adapter or my mouse at all. I need to restart the system or replug my mouse to solve the issue. I've experienced the mouse connection issue within UEFI too. Furthermore I experiencing further annoying problems, such as random video signal loose (especially when I start a fan calibration within AISuite 3). After that, I can only revive my system with a hardreset.

I tried to reinstall windows/nvidia driver/chipset driver, etc. And of course, I have the latest BIOS version.

Now, I sent back the board to the vendor, because ASUS Support advised that. They will revise it. I hope soo, that they won't evalute that it's just a SW related issue...

Can I ask everyone's experience witch this BIOS? I skipped the previous update as I thought this one wouldn't be too far away?

I'm running an R5 3600 with no obvious issue at all with my current bios (5008).

That said I do have a weird issue since upgrading to an RTX 2070 Super FE. Everything's working fine but on boot up the RTX fans ramp up to full speed for a few seconds before posting once in windows everything performs as expected. I'm guessing this is a bios behaviour either of the card itself or of the motherboard. Can anyone shed any light on this? my 1070 didn't behave like this at all on this mobo/bios/cpu combo though that was a strix model with a zero rpm fan mode if at all relevant.

Update:
I've installed BIOS 5216 tonight and initial impressions are mixed. I'm now back to the CPU being a bit too trigger happy with boost whilst on the desktop and will not idle at less than just over 1v. This bios hasn't done anything to address my RTX 2070S fan issue at startup either. Performance wise I've seen a slight gain in timespy CPU score but nothing to to get excited about. System stability still appears to be ok...all be it with the over enthusiastic boost behaviour and the elevated temps that come with it.

I really hope the next BIOS update really puts some of these old issues to bed

I think this is quite common for GPU fans to ramp up during POST, "cleansing blow" 😄

Yeah I thought that may be the case, but then I found this thread over on reddit...

It appears people have only been experiencing this since upgrading to Ryzen 3...that coupled with the dead silence of my 1070 on the same setup makes me think more may be going on here at initialisation. I cant find anyone running a 2070 Super on a different mobo/cpu combo so I can confirm this behaviour is definitely normal with this card.

If this is a normal cleansing blow i'm lucky it hasn't blown the side off my case....so loud!!! :')

Has the 15.9 GB bug been fixed? When running Windows 10 and when using any bios with AGESA 1.0.0.3 or newer, Windows 10 reports system memory as 15.9 GB instead of 16GB, if you have 16GB installed. It never used to do that in earlier bios revisions before AGESA 1.0.0.3

I wish I'd been aware of this before (my own fault for not doing my homework). Just checked and no it hasn't been fixed. I've also had to edit the minimum cpu power state from 99% to 5% in AMD's Ryzen Balanced power plan in order to reign in desktop boost behaviour. I cant help getting annoyed with AMD here, how long is it going to take them to sort these old issues out completely?

I mean I'm hopeful that the latest agesa update detailed by Robert Hallock earlier this week is going to deal with these things definitively but it seems every other bios update so far has changed very little whilst also doing nothing to address the problems many of us have had since launch.

Update: I have raised a support ticket with AMD regarding the 15.9gb ram issue in windows 10 and the seemingly widespread issue of RTX fans spinning up like tornados only when paired with Ryzen 3000 series https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comment...th_ryzen_3600/

I don't know if any of you guys have already done so but if you are having any issues like those listed above or others it could be worth raising a support ticket of your own here https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form at least we're notifying AMD themselves.

Update:
AMD told me to reinstall the GPU drivers...twice...I'm surprised they didn't ask me to make sure my PC was facing east
NVIDIA have passed the fan reports onto their QA/Engineering department.

I'd imagine any of these smaller issues will just be unceremoniously fixed via a bios update eventually

Just updated to 5216 and i have noticed that stock voltages are a little more under control and under 100% no longer jumps to all core 1.45v and now hovers around 1.35 - 1.39v at 4GHz auto boost still high though given that an all core 4.1GHz is stable at 1.3v, however single core boost actually boosts a little higher however the voltage is still obscenely high, manual OC to all core 4.1GHz only needs 1.3v and a manual all core 4.2GHz only needs around 1.35v so why the heck does a single core 4.15GHz boost need 1.45v ?

Also for me the post delay has now been fixed but I have noticed another gpu issue, after updating the bios my 1070 stopped outputting to the 2nd monitor under windows and pulling out the cable and plugging back in fixed it eventually ( very odd ).

I switched Ryzen 5 1600X (OC-ed to 4Ghz 24/7) to Ryzen 7 3700X all stock with PBO enabled.
Before the switch I flashed the MB first with Version 4602 and later with the last official Version 5216 Bios, updated the video and the chipset drivers. The first start the CPU worked up to 3,6Ghz at 0,90 volts whatever power plan I choose. So I instaled again the last chipset driver and now the CPU goes to 4400Mhz (4440Mhz measured in HW monitor when PCI bus goes to 100,2Mhz).
I'm with XFX RX480 GTR, I used old 17.7.1 Catalyst, now I'm with 19.20 Adrenalin.
I have improvements in all games and in the speed of browsers/Windows programs.
I'm glad I'm still using the same MB again! Many thanks to Amd and Asus!

I've been amazed by the level of support AMD has provided to the AM4 socket and older chipsets like ours. Hopefully they continue on this trend as long as possible. Always good to see everything working well for someone. Congrats on a great build :cool:
