thank you Hivizman I just got this mobo with 4770k and gskill trident x 2400 2x8gb could you give me some pointers to help me oce the cpu
im looking to getting 4.6-4.8ghz i have adequate cooling.

My idea of adequate cooling and yours might be two very different things. 🙂

OC is all about your CPU, some will and most wont. So what you do is as follows.

Set XMP in profile this sorts your memory out.

Now try a modest 44x multiplier

In the Digi+ set LLC to 5

Vcore change the mode to ofset
+
0.025

Leave all else on auto.

F10 and boot to OS.

Download CPUz, HWMonitor and some sort of stress test thing. Use ROG realbench it is quick, brutal and will make your system fall over very quickly if not stable. Use the benchmark not the stress test of RBench please.

What you will be looking at in HWMonitor is the min and max temps, and the voltages of your Vcore, CPUz is often easer to use for vcore.

Once you are done and passed two Benchmarks in a row, then either increase your multi in bios and try again. Once you fall over or fail, increase the amount of offset voltage to 0.030 and keep noting what the actual voltage is during load. I would not want to go higher than 1.400 for 24/7 regardless how good your water cooling is, but temperature will decide this.

thanks again where do i find Digi+ set LLC to 5? and is it normal my cpu always throttles back to 3.5 when not under stress?

Yes it is correct that is how Intel design the system as there is no need for your system to be running the CPU at max settings when not working.

In your bios navigate down to wards the vcore section you will see a section called DIgi+ click and the first item on the list is LLC.

thanks for all your help I mainly game with my pc for cpu vcore you suggest offset over manual and adaptive?
and should i have asus multicore enhancement disable?

HiVizMan

I prefer offset as that works best on the builds I do, and your build will benefit from offset. Leave all the other settings as they are you do not need to disable or enable anything else. 🙂
