ROG Maximus Hero VI Board Disrepair

Hi all,

These may be stupid questions but:

1. My Hero VI board isn't working. Can it be repaired or is replacement the only option?

2. If I have to discard it I want to do so responsibly. Where does one dispose of mobos?

I'm pretty sure one of the socket pins has broken off. The code shows 58 and the cpu light shines yellow. It never makes it past initializing the cpu and ram.

I bought a new one and everything works fine. I was just wondering if I can do something with this board.

Broken socket pins are not good.

if you want to get rid of it you can pack it up in its box and toss it in the trash or try to sell it for parts.

I've seen motherboards listed on ebay for parts but I don't know how well they sell.

You should check your city's or county's ordinance. There is probably a dropoff for computer parts. They contain toxic materials. See for example

This is true geneo they do contain toxic materials and I'm not one to want to help contaminate our beautiful planet earth. That would be the right thing to do, have it recycled. But you just remember this the next time you toss a dead battery in the trash can.
