RIVE PCI-E Slot 3 Stability Issues

I am having issues with the PCI-E Slot 3 on the RIVE (black slot). It doesn't seem to like me using it when I have SLI enabled on slots #1 and #4. I haven't done much troubleshooting with different devices, but I thought the issue was related specifically to my RevoDrive 3 because other's had experienced similar things on other motherboards using the RevoDrive 3.

Green slots are running GTX 607s in SLI, while the Orange is whatever I plug in. Basically I cannot reliably come out of sleep with anything plugged into this slot. I've tried a dual port Gigabit NIC and a Sound Card with the same results that the RevoDrive 3 gave me months ago. All other slots are unpopulated, and the #6 slot is actually manually turned off.

You can find any details about the original issues in my original thread that's relatively old now, here.

I'm overclocked and have been stable as long as nothing is plugged into the 3rd slot. It doesn't matter if I'm overclocked or not this issues occurs regardless. Please see my hardware specs in my sig if you have questions.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Have you by chance tried plugging in a six pin pcie power cable into the motherboard for additional pcie power? I can't recall the name of the port.. But it resides right above the 1st pcie slot. Right behind the I/O shield..

What about setting PCIE bandwidth in the bios to GEN 2? Instead of the stock GEN 3 setting..

The Intel specs for the 3930k show that it's a PCIE GEN2 CPU.. It might can handle PCIE3.. But that's not a given.

Just like my 3960x.. GEN 2 as well.. (Yes Intel jipped us on these high end CPU's)

But I'm able to run my 3 780GTX SLI @ GEN3 with no problems using the executable provided by Nvidia to force PCIE3 in the registry.

I recall your first thread - the way the lanes are configured should not impact on your OC or stability unless your CPU has a particularly wonky or weak PCIe controller. Are you able to swap CPU out to test this for me?
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I have a 3930k on a RIVE Board with crossfired matrix cards and a soundcard in the Number 3 - 2b slot (the one he has marked orange) It works perfectly

Yeah that is my own experience, and for that reason I can not help but wonder if it is CPU based, can be motherboard too. Testing will determine which it is.

I have all power connectors plugged into the motherboard. I've forced PCI-E Slots to Gen2 in the bios, mainly because my system had issues with the registry patch from Nvidia that enables Gen3 support. My CPU has been replaced once when I was troubleshooting the issue originally with the RevoDrive 3, but apparently the issue is still outstanding.

What are the chances that the slot has an issue that would cause this behavior? The issue has persisted through Windows 7 to Windows 8, multiple clean installs. So it would appear that it could be hardware related. I've been thinking about trying a different arrangement of my cards, but the only recommended one for SLI/Crossfire is what I'm currently using.

Thanks for the input and suggestions already provided.
