RIVE how to diagnose the Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Adapter

Hello,

When I plug a network cable to the Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Adapter it doesn't light up as it used to do and the wired connection is
not detected not only from Windows 7 but also consistently from Ubuntu. Does this mean that the network adapter is faulty?

Is there a way in the BIOS to test / diagnose it?

I have tried replacing the wired network cables but I get the same ... I have to test using a different Wireless device though.

If you tried different cables and still the same thing, it could be the network device. DId you reinstall the drivers? Did it say anything in Device Manager under network adapter?

In Device Manager - is Network adapters even shown? Under that the listing should be: Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection.

If they are missing then the network device is probably bad.
