RIVE - Dead system

My PC specs:

CPU: INTEL 3930K (OC from BIOS Normal OC Profile)
CPU COOLER: NOCTUA NH-D14 SE2011
MOBO: ASUS RAMPAGE IV EXTREME
BIOS VERSION: 4004
PSU: THERMALTAKE 1200W
RAM: GSKILL 32GB
GPU: EVGA GTX 680 4GB

I have this system from September 2012 working without any problem.
Two days ago while i was surfing the web (not doing something that will stress the CPU) the PC just turned OFF.
I tried to startup again but the system didnt post. I could see the power led, hard disk led at front panel that turned on, i could hear the fan and hard disk working but i had no vga output, simply a black screen.
By opening the case of the PC i saw that the debug leds DID NOT WORK and at the time the CPU led was RED.
First I just did a clear CMOS and tried again, nothing changed. Then I removed everything from the PC: GPU, RAM, PSU and all peripheral connections. I plugged the GPU, RAM and PSU from my media center PC (its 1155 socket so could not check CPU and MOBO) and tried again. Same results. (Tried with 1 DIMM, 2 DIMMs, changed DIMM slots)
At the same time i plugged at the media center GPU, RAM, PSU from the RIVE PC and everything worked fine so i ll have to exclude those parts from causing the problem.
I tried to update BIOS from ROG button with USB Flash, (of course tried to switch the BIOS from the RIVE button), removed battery, I dismounted and mounted again the CPU, nothing changed.
Still i get CPU led RED and NO DEBUG LEDS at all.
So anyone has an idea if its the CPU or the MOBO. From my experience a CPU failure is not that common as a MOBO one. (tbh i had 2 MOBO failures over the years never a CPU)

Thanks in advance for your time 😛

PS: Forgot to say i removed the entire board from the case and put it on top of a box to eliminate the possibility of short circuit from the case.

isn't 4004 series bios for the Ivy Bridge E? Try a bios flashback

First thnx for your answer.
Second the 4004 is for RIVE, check ASUS official page https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_IV_EXTREME/#support_Download_30, it just adds new CPU support.
But i tried many BIOS versions from the ROG BIOS Flashback and nothing changed. Also when a BIOS doesnt work your system doest work properly for 10 days and just dies in a second.

is everything still dead if you change to the B bios?

Its not actually dead, the mobo has power, the power button works also since i press it and system tries to start, reset button lites up, the bios led lites up, the fans work, the hdd have power. The debug leds are dead and cpu led is red and ofc system just dosnt work.

It is either the motherboard or the CPU. The quick way to find out which it is, would be to put your CPU into a working board, or put a working CPU into your board. Not sure how you would manage that unless you knew someone or there was a store that did PC repairs that had similar hardware.

Thats my big prob, since the LGA 2011 is a bit expensive not many people use it, most of my friends have 1155 platform and local stores dont have LGA 2011 mobos available, they bring only by order.
Anyway i ll just go to the shop that i got the CPU (its one hour drive but np), i contacted them and they said they ll test it right away and tell me. If its dead they give me a new one.
Although i dont see how the cpu can die when the pc is almost idle.
I just made a post here cause maybe someone had the same problem with debug leds not working etc and could tell me something that i dont know or didnt think.
Thnx for your answers.

PS: Even if the cpu is dead and they give me a new i ll still be very skeptical to put it on the mobo before i test it also, a bad mobo can damage the new cpu also.

I would have your PSU tested too. That is in my experience the biggest killer of motherboards and processors. Even if a PSU works (powers on and runs the PC) it can be defective and spike huge amounts of current into your system. I have lost a few motherboards and some very good CPU's to a PSU that was doing that. 😞 Ah well we learn from these things...

Totaly correct, i have thought that also, that even if it powers (i use it atm at pc i m typing from) maybe it does some spikes. Its 4.5 years old now so tbh i dont trust it that much. I already ordered a Corsair AX1200i (overkill i know but its a very good one).

The problem was my CPU, its the 1st time i have a CPU failure over the years. Well they ll send me a new one.
