RIVE and SM951 AHCI help :(

So im trying to extend the life of this board/chipset and sort of max it out as best i can. Maybe a 2690v2 and a nice ssd raid0 for storage. But i think shes starting to go. Hanging on boots, pcie slots just wont do x16 for my 1080, random boot loops...oy vey. So i figured id start with a decent boot drive.

I got a good deal on 2 256gb sm951 ahci's that i was going to use on a DAW. Now, id love to use both in a raid 0 but im sure that aint happenin. So i decided to use one for the rampage. Put it in a pcie adapter and the bios doesnt see it. So im thinking maybe i should treat it like a nvme. Tried the modded bios' on the forum but still, nothing. Windows sees it and also installed on it, but no bios help at all. Tried all slots, same results. If anyone has any suggestions, id greatly appreacite it. If not, i think its just time to sell this setup 😞

Try to ask on overclock.net... they have big topic for specific M.2 you ask and your motherboard.
That platform is still effective for most demanding jobs, I doubt you will have better experience than with i7-3970X.
If you overclock him on 4.3-4.4GHz you get processor similar to i7-5930K-i7-6850K. 15MB Cache, 40 PCI-E lanes, 6 Cores, Nice frequency....

Thanks for the response. I literally JUST figured it out. No way was i gonna be about to do this on my own. Fernando on win-raid.com has e great tutorial and got me up and running...or so i thought. This is what i mean about this board, i finally see the drive, install a fresh windows, restart onto the new drive and finish the install. I go to restart, and she starts pausing on almost ALL post codes. 16, 67, 61, 25 etc etc. Takes awhile but we get to post and it says my overclock failed. I get into the bios and my drive is gone again. FML. All settings were back to default. Not sure if it switched bios' on me or somehow over road it? Anywaysm ill flash both tomorrow and get it back up.

I have a 3930k now. You think the 3970X is the way to go? I was thinking Xeon. I know i cant overclock a 2690 but i see some bclk to 3.6 and one guy got 4.1 on all 10 cores.
