Rivbe shutdowns

OK so I have gone from mild doubt about other threads on this to full doubt in the quality of my board.

At first reading other threads on sudden shut-downs I was wondering if they were RAM problems or folk trying to OC the same settings on RIVBE as on RIVE etc. etc.BUT I have now been through random power outs on the RIVBE on all 3 BIOS on 2 3930Ks and one 4930K

I have not doubted my PSU since it was properly tested recently but still just in case substituted this too....same power outs

I have had 2 kits of RAM on the board both set up Manually and XMP...same power outs

I have two GPUs same power outsI have three different SSDs and tried OS re-installs same power outs.

I have read recommendations to set current capability to 170% 180% which seem entirely unreasonable as these values are marked in RED in the BIOS and I presume for some reason...but even this while seeming to help in frequency did not eliminate entirely.

For the most part this has happened trying to OC the three processors BUT has happened twice at stock on a 3930 and the 4930.

My conclusion...slowly and disbelievingly is, the board is BAD...am I right. Seems like there is some power delivery issue here. Where is the cut-out...CPU or on the MB? Anything else to try? Am I reasonable in not wanting to set 180% current capability? Thanks for any help as always

Hmm the IO components being "hot" seems strange especially without the heatsink around them...not sure what to think of that....the board is on stand-offs or insulated...VRM block got good contact ?

The boards on standoffs that are screwed into my stock HAF XB mobo tray, that's sitting on an acrylic test bench i made. This is my 2nd time seating the VRM Block, so i'm pretty sure it has good contact. Also, I have my Aida Sensor Panel showing absolutely everything i can think of. And my mobo temps stay around 30C or less, i always assumed mobo in aida was vrm's.

Edit: I had my Ethernet plugged into the io when i was testing, and when it shutdown again during realbench i went to plug the rj45 back into my laptop. That's when i noticed all the io's were hot. They cooled off pretty quick after i pulled the power, but they were hot enough that i pulled my hand away.

I have those red glass or paper washers that FCPU sells between the screws and the mobo.

Yeah I imagine the VRM block is good...I just ask to double check I guess...but the hot IO is not something I've ever noticed on any board...would be interested to know what is generating heat there...

The stock heatsink isn't cooling anything in that are a right? just takes heat from VRM...

That's how i understood it. Otherwise the waterblock makes no sense. I thought Asus advertised it as just an extended VRM heatsink connected with a heatpipe.

It's just the way this is happening, seems like heat or power tripping the board. After i reseated my blocks last night and put the cmos battery back in, i booted right up on XMP profile (Trident X 2400 CL10), had my 2x290x's CFX'd. Ran through Firestrike Extreme. Then tried Realbench and went right back to bootloops. It's like my boards heating up or running out of power over a period of time, and i don't know how that's possible =\

Crumbs...that is weird and the heating does sound strange...anything plugged in the IO port? apart from internet? maybe unplug everything and see if it happens?

Only other thing is a Logitech USB Receiver for my keyboard with trackpad. My family's doing Easter today so i guess that's it for now. I guess the only thing left is drain and break down my loop so i can test each dimm and ram stick one by one. It's starting to feel like i need to RMA the board though. Sooooo many problems with this build =\

I've tried with everything unplugged except one GPU, SSD, Aquaero, & Logitech USB.

Yeah, it's a shame but you might have to take the loop off and test stuff out...or RMA.

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter bro. Thanx for helping me troubleshoot. I tried to rep you again, but the forum told me i need to rep other people first 😃
