Good afternoon,

I would like to know if a BIOS update will be released for the z370 / z380 motherboards with RESIZE BAR option?

Thanks
greetings

I hope that ASUS is working on the BIOS update for Z300 series, but the comms so far have been the worst example of how to treat your loyal customers I have ever seen. All we have got so far is contradicting statements and responses in other languages that when converted to English, simply make no sense. There is als no mention of what chipset they are talking about. I just want to know whether the motherboard in my system is a ROG (Republic of Gamers) or a ROS (Republic of Shame)? ASUS - two things need to happen and now:
1. Announce you are going to release resize bar support for Z300 series motherboards. Don't even come back and say they are EOL, because that is BS. If that were true, your competitors - EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte etc etc would not have bothered to release BIOS updates to support this feature.
2. Announce an ETA for this release. I don't even mind waiting another month or so but if I know its coming we can all relax.

My friends are laughing in my face - saying I have an overpriced waste of money ROG motherboard. Their motherboards were much cheaper and have resize bar support, its embarrassing because at this point I feel like I have been ripped off.

If no BIOS update is coming then my Maximus XI Hero is gone, I will replace it with another Z300 board and never go back to ASUS.

You know what, the fact that ASUS hasn't even commented in here to give any update as to whether they will be supporting this or not is kind of ridiculous. I have been a loyal Asus customer for many years. I upgrade my rigs on an extremely regular basis, in the last 4 years I've had an Asus z170 board, x99 board, x299 board and now z390 board. The only reason I am still running Z390 is because I haven't been able to get a 5950X yet but my plan was to eventually get an asus X570 board.... but I am re-thinking that now.

I really want to check this feature out with my rtx 3080 and every other vendor is supporting this on z390... its just Asus were waiting for

Firstly I really am not posting this in a malicious I want an argument way but you are making excuses for inexcusable customer support.

Whilst I agree to a point that the support staff don't know a lot, as someone who worked in a similar function, they will know quite a bit. They are the ones giving links to the list on what's supported and you can bet their manager has asked what is going on with the Z390/370 and will have been told. What they communicate is a different matter, and you can read between the lines of what they are not saying at this point in this instance... ie "it isn't happening" because they would have been told they can tell people its in the works if it was. It's an absolute classic case of don't confirm that you are not doing it and hope that the anger dies down.

Regarding the they didn't know and resources, well I don't know who released an update first but,

MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PLUS

Release Date
2021-01-04

to make sure that isn't a date error and its the 1st of april, there is also this one

2021/01/19
Gigabyte Z390 AORUS ELITE
Enable Resizable Base-Address Register (Resizable-BAR) option to enhance GPU performance

They have had 3 months to sort themselves out after that was released and you can bet that they had heard rumours before then that other manufacturers were going to do this.

Agreed, its a truly terrible look for them.

That's a good point, I guess they decided not to knowing full well that their competitors had all gone the extra mile (or extra few inches, given that the required update is a copy pasta from a nearly identical chipset). That is a highly questionable position for them to have taken, and I don't really see how it can be down to a lack of test resource either given that they have released BIOS updates for quite a few of those SKUs in the last 2-3 months.

In regard to your other point on call centre staff, it really depends on the company. Most large companies outsource their call centre work, the call centre staff will generally be about as well informed on most topics as the general public.

If they were all parroting the same points it might suggest that Asus had prepped their support staff but given that we've had numerous reports of them saying "who knows" and even one claiming that the BIOS updates are with Intel for certification (which sounds like they were just making stuff up) chances are none of them have a clue and they know as much as us.

I posted a message to Linus from Linus Tech Tips, I am hopeful he will see it and help push ASUS on this.

I have posted a query to ASUS technical support - Not holding out much hope of getting the response I hope for, or any response for that matter 😞

I'm in the same boat, just come to the forums to see if Asus is going to update the BIOS or not, I have a 9900k with a Z370h, and i don't want to upgrade now.

Silence Is a very coward way to face costumers...

I am beginning to lose hope. Will wait a month longer, if no BIOS update I will then go out and buy a different brand of motherboard that supports resizable bar.

I will go all Gigabyte with my New System if we dont get rBAR by the end of April for all Z3XX users.
-AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
-Kingston Fury 6800MT/s DDR5 32GB
-Asus ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi
-Asus ROG Ryujin 360 OLED Push/Pull
-Asus ROG Astral LC GeForce RTX 5090 32GB OC Edition
-Asus ROG HerculX
-Asus ROG Strix Thor 1200P 1200W Platinum
-Asus ROG Strix Helios Case Black
-Asus ROG Theta 7.1
-Asus ROG Gladius II Origin
-Asus ROG Strix Flare II
-Asus ROG Balteus Mousepad
-Asus ROG Sheath Deskpad

I will wait about 1-2 weeks. If I dont see an official statement i will switch to the nextgen Mainboards/CPUS.

But without ASUS. The plan was to get the ROG STRIX Z590-E, but in this case my ASUS experience will end. GigaByte or MSI have also very good boards 😉

Just to let everyone know, Neowin.net has posted an article entitled "ASUS Z370/Z390 board owners are furious over the lack of Resizable BAR support".
