REIII VGA BOOT QLED PROBLEM !

Hi, iv had my rampage extreme 3 mobo (build) since september 2010 and if i remember iv had this problem once before and the problem is that the VGA Boot LED is stuck on and nothing shows up on screen obviously a VGA error somwhere ...

last time it happend all i had to do was clear cmos and it powered up ok and could get back in to bios but this time no matter what i try its just stuck there. i will try removing componants tomorrow and sector down the problem

looking on the warrenty page for the RE3 on asus site it says i have my 3 years warrenty but "Warranty invalid if disassembly by end-user or non-ASUS-authorized repair centers. " does that mean i am the "end-user" if i take it out and this invalidates the warrenty?

thanks !!

UPDATE: Sent all key components off for RMA testing (CPU, Mobo, GPU, RAM, PSU) and the RAM and PSU had faults and were replaced free of charge.

However, connecting the system back up and trying all sorts of different ways, the problem still persists.
Now assuming that all components are now 'working' by scan.co.uk the supplier (apart from RAM and PSU as it was new off the shelf from supplier and not checked), their word is all I have to go on so I don't know if they were cutting the testing short for the GPU, Mobo or CPU I dont know so now I really don't know what to do.

Any ideas anyone?

EDIT: its 'VGA' QLED not 'VGA BOOT' QLED.

Sorry ShadowBumble, I seemed to have missed page 2 lol, from what you said then I am almost certain that it is the Motherboard at fault.

As its the Motherboard showing the problem it could be that once it has this problem, it will never budge from that VGA LED because it is in fact the Motherboards fault nothing else!

I will get back to my supplier on this despite I paid £20 for them to test this Motherboard and was apparently OK (if components are found "working" then I pay £20 for testing and delivery!), well sorry I don't believe that and certainly not now so I think sadly they were cutting corners.

If no luck then I'm going to buy the Black Edition although this should be a one off problem and shouldn't happen again as ASUS are premium components ... the saying " the more features, the more to go wrong" applies to this and this is a prime example just like the "Red Ring Of Death" overheating problem for Xbox 360.

Thanks 🙂

Hello, I stumbled across your post while resurching the exact problem. I purchased a rampage IV black edition motherboard and within 24hours of installing my operating system I had this exact same problem. When I went to turn on my computer I could not go into the bios or boot into the operating system. The Q-VGA led was on.
I fixed this by removing everything from the motherboard except the cup and cooler, and one stick of RAM. Then I updated the bios to the latest version. As of me posting this that would be the beta 00801 or something like that, I don't remember it exactly. Once it was finished I re-assembled the computer and booted up, it worked just fine after that.

Anyway I hope this helps you, or someone else with this problem, it is quite baffling and frustrating.

Cheers!
