Regretting buying the MVF [solved]

I am starting to regret paying good money for this board, when I got it I automatically flashed to the 1604 BIOS, which as I now know has problems for the majority of users, myself included. I then went to the 1408 BIOS which was stable apart from booting into windows boot manager which gave me the option of which system to install, as I only have 1 HDD with windows 7 on it my choice is windows 7 or windows 7. Pressing OK started windows 7 but then I had to go through the whole process of restarting and hoping to get into the BIOS without windows boot manager starting again, if I press escape this saves me having to through the whole waiting for windows to load before I can restart to try and get into my BIOS, when I finally get into the BIOS it acts like the 1604 BIOS and resets my BIOS settings.

My gaming is still rubbish with judder on the games I play, BF3 being the worst, virtually unplayable. I have tried my old monitor, old graphics card, on board sound, creative card, different router, old mouse, so 3 things are left, the CPU, memory and Motherboard.

Today I flashed back to 701 BIOS to see if this fixed my gaming (it didn't), and again windows boot manager returned, if I leave my computer and it goes to sleep, when I wake it up I have no monitor so have to do a hard reset. I have the BIOS settings exactly the same as when I had the 1408 BIOS but now when I set my vcore at 1.18v, instead of showing a constant voltage in CPUz, it fluctuates between 1.12 and 1.29, which gives me temperatures of 68 c instead of 58 c while trying to play BF3.

So after less than 3 months of owning this board here's hoping the new BIOS fixes these problems, if not I can see this board going in the bin. The reason it will go in the bin is because if I return it as faulty I will probably get a refurbished board and after 4 faulty refurbished 560 ti cards from MSI I was without a computer for nearly 3 months and I am not going through that again.

just be shure your not running enny programs in the back ground, i had major hangs in bf3 too but that was upon release of it.
just dont run beta drivers on the graphics, do as nikosa said, have a look at the firewall too and see if it blocks enny thing.
some antiviri programs have "game" mode on them.

I have a static ip nikosa43 and I tried the port forwarding last week but unfortunately it didn't make a difference,

kkn, I have tried 3 different anti virus and firewalls, turmed off the anti vrus and the firewall, even turned off the firewall on my router but again, no difference. I bought BF3 on the day of release and it played beautifully on my old computer until January when I built this computer. The only things that have changed are the MOBO, the CPU, the monitor and the memory. I thought about it being my HDD being too slow, but if that was the case the game would only slow down when the game is reading from the HDD and it doesn't do that.

I thought it might be my new 144Hz monitor, but I tried my old 60 Hz one, tried my old GFX card, tried a different router, different mouse, onboard sound and creative PCIe sound card, theres a point, which slot should my sound card go in, at the momment I have it in the PCIe 2.0 x1_3 slot. Number 6 in the manual. I removed the wifi card, I have disabled all the onboard sound, USB 3 and asmedia stuff in the BIOS.

I can't really afford a SSD drive at the moment after building this computer, so this week I am just going to get a Seagate Barracuda 500 gig 6Gb (ST500DM002), then I can fire up my old computer.

Preacher Post Quotes in this Thread:

[3-28-2013] "Regretting buying the MVF"
[3-28-2013] "I replaced a rampage formula and Q9450 which served me for nearly 5 years with this board and the rampage formula was 100%, never skipped a beat."
[3-29-2013] "The Rampage Formula was the best board I have had, I am hoping this board can follow in the same trend."
[4-5-2013] "Ok a week in with the new 1707 BIOS and following Chino's and Nikosa43's advice and everything seems spot on, no more windows boot, and everything behaving as it should."

Preacher-
Congrats on this and your perserverance. ROGon.

[Question]
What is your position on the Max V Now ?? [ The as of yet identification of juddering issue aside ]
Do you still 'regret' ?? If not, may I suggest that you ask a Mod/Admin to place the placard [SOLVED] in front of
the Title as not to leave the wrong impression ?

Further may I suggest starting a New Thread with this 'other' issue as it is not related to the original post ?
This way it may not get overlooked by additional members that may have input specific to this.

This is the kind of thread that makes me proud to keep coming here.
Cudos to All.c.

The board is spot on now mate, as I said all my photography software is like lightning, and apart from the code 30 staying on when I exit sleep mode, the 1707 BIOS has fixed all my problems (juddering aside).

I guess the thread title was a little harsh, it was more a case of getting fed up with formatting and trying new BIOS revsions only to find a different problem.

One last question before the thread is closed, which chipset is the latest one for this board, I have the one from the ASUS website V9.3.0.1021, this confused me a bit because in my system settings it mentions a "xeon (R) processor E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor DRAM controller -0150 and PCI express Root port -0151.

One last note about the Rampage Formula, I would still be using it now if I could have bought DDR2 memory for it, another 4 gig was going to set me back £140 and even then it might not have been compatable with my original 4 gig as the revision numbers might have been different.

Closed ?? No Way bro. What if there is a question .. later ?

The 'new' thread I suggested was to bring the 'subject' to
the top of the 'new posts' as A focused issue, which is what
you are working on now. 'RubberBanding'. Fascinating.

This way members, non members, but may be users,
and some researching becoming a user, searching the forum, can come up with answers
that brought them/us/we here in the first place quicker.imo

And from the original post, for the most part, the answer is bios1707.ty.Shamino.
Changing the title is more fitting and proper, since you no longer feel that way.
How it was [Solved] then follows .. And .. You are a Rampager Maximus Now !!!
Tell it.

I, personally, am now more curious about the New, but seen more and more 'inside' threads,
the definitive answers to 'juddering'/'rubberBanding' and related issues/discussion
in addition to this Great Thread.

Sounds like old fashioned throttling. Maybe with a new twist. A wave across the users ???
The strain on networks must be phenominal. but. There must be an explaination and
possible solution along the way.

imho. The forum isnt only about 'how' ROGstuff works, it is more 'why' it works so well.
Staff and Members.

btw... The original title as written was spot on @ the time. It was your honest position.
duly respected goodSir.

Any suggestions for acquiring 8GB of matched DDR2 real reasonable ? PM me please.

Here is a auto scanner from intel to check your drivers for the board. But honestly we all have issues with Asus's motherboards from time to time. I know I've felt like throwing my extreme-z out the window a few times. Need anything else pm me or ask in here.

Trouble ?? Not just with boards of All makes, especially the enthusiast level boards, but the never ending changing environment in which they run is combative to say the least. What with driver revisions and software evolution from all directions. Conflict happens.

The servers alone between the user and 'them' ... it's all worth a look see.
I think it is other than a flaw onboard but thank you for a tool to check.

*update* I used the above intel link and Blue Screened Twice (two attempts).
My CrossHair V Formula has been all but bulletproof with 0 BSOD.
[[ Do I assume that this is something terrible and must be fixed ?? I think not.
It wasn't broken in the first place. Runs outstanding.]
Curious though, from where was is rejected ??
(Not suggesting this will happen to others 0r not to use. in the least.)
Ironic to my post subject though, eh ?? hahahhaa fun.

* side note *
I have to say I always chuckle @ grumbling @ the tweaking to get to perfection.
'We' didnt buy 'retail box' that just 'blah runs'. We are Tweakers OC'd mostly, Entusiasts,
Tried by the level required @ times. These are HotROGs not Plain Wrapper EconoBoxes.
Tuning Required ... sometimes. sometimes? .. luckyROGs do exist as sure as RMA's.
In fact 'they' are winning.c.

If you are asking me. I personally hold little weight in this type of stress testing.
I rely more on real world type testing to assure stablility in use.
Master's, [our brotherHiVizMan for 0ne], have agreed that it is one of the best ways to truly test.
Not that other tests don't have their place.c.

chrsplmr's test

Edit to Below ..Z. Absolutely agreed.

I agree with you, Chris, about stress testing... - except the memtest86+...

Running memtest86+ even before installing the OS can save a lot of head-scratching! Bad/unstable memory can cause a lot of trouble...
